Description
If you’re looking for an authentic Durban experience then you’ve come to the right place. Danny’s House of Curries specialises in Indian food and delicacies.
We enjoy coming here every now and again. We always have the prawn curry. It's great. Hot but not so spicy you get turned off. Our only problem is that we get less prawns, like half, what we used to get after the restaurant was first opened.
I love Danny's, the bunny's are great. I particularly enjoy the mutton bunny and the sugar beans bunny. Everytime we go it is tasty and pretty fast service. It's spicy and tasty which is really nice because I often find that takeout bunnies are either to spicy with no real depth of flavour or lacking in spice. This is the perfect combination of the two and the takeaway boxes are really cool too.
4 stars for the food - it’s the authentic Durban curry. To get the food however , you’ll have to endure long wait times and dim-witted staff. Simply placing an order results in blank stares and confused looks......
Ordered beans bunny and mutton bunny as we were missing the Durban bunnies. Worst of the worst experience. The beans bunny was so cold. I asked for it to be heated and they microwaved it. Half of the beans were inedible because they were so hard. Imagine in one beans bunny I found so many cloves. It tasted of clove oil! Mutton bunny was of poor standard with an oddly sweet taste. I am not going to eat there again! I will rather wait until I'm visiting Durban and will eat in Orientals.
Service was weak. The mutton bunny is not worth the R89 I paid. The bunny bread was not fresh. For R89 I would atleast expect a proper portion of salad. What I got was literally a pinch of salad in a tiny plastic packet. Two stars because the curry was decent. Oily, but decent. Will not be returning to this food outlet.
Ordered at Danny's a few times before and at that time the bunny was something to talk about. I even told all my friends that this was the best bunny I've ever tasted, even better than any bunny in Durban. Can't say the same right now..... Ordered 2 mutton bunnies and a prawn & chicken breyani, everything was bad. No taste and less salt. The prawns in the was still in its shell??? Won't be eating there ever again. Waste of money.
Dont waste your time with Danny's. Ordered a mutton bunny. The portion was small compared to other curry joints. They are also so stingy with the pieces if meat being tiny and very bony. Also the seating is very unorganised as while you're collecting your order, you risk losing your place. Tables were also dirty and I had to ask the cashier to wipe it down.
Worst food ever ordered. We ordered chicken curry on our way back home because there was no electricity at home. When we open the food to eat we found that it was not chicken , looked like lamb or not sure what the hell it was. My roommate tasted it a little bit and spit it out. The smell was unbearable and there was only oil in the curry. I even wouldn't dare to taste by the look of it. We had thrown it in dustbin. First of all we asked for chicken and got something else and what we got was to not eatable by human. Worst of worst food ever ordered anywhere.
My experience at Danny's today was beyond shocking. We ordered a lamb and beans bunny as take aways. 5 minutes later we sat down and opened the bunnies. The lamb was warm and the beans was icy cold. I took the beans back as the lamb was warm enough to still eat. I received the worst service from the gentleman in the kitchen who said that it's cold because it's a take away. He wanted to warm the bunny with the bread instead of making a new hot one. He then refused to give me a refund. Then he offered to make a new while he continued to argue at me that the order was placed 15mins ago. He was rude and arrogant. We have ordered take out previously, even food that's delivered to us has been warmer than this. It's sad that this employee attitude spoilt what could have been a good birthday supper
Nice tasty curry. But a bunny chow isn't nice when the bread is stale. Surely you should know when the bread is past its sell by date Staff are friendly. Thumbs up for them
