Deep Blue Fish Co. was founded in May 2017 by local brothers Sean & Greg Woodcock, who decided to combine their serious passion for Fish & Food to create the go-to place for daily fresh fish, frozen seafood, sushi & of course the BEST take-away in town. They now supply some of the top restaurants in Durban, while offeing a variety of fresh and tasty seafood dishes from traditional beer battered hake & chips to calamari and fishcakes… as well as the deliciously different deep fried Mars bars for dessert. The whole menu is addictively tasty and the clean, modern environment couldn’t be more appealing. Pop in and get an unforgettable taste of the sea at Deep Blue Fish Co.

Very friendly and helpful team of people, quick and efficient service. Loved the hake and calamari. The deep fried Mars bar was something different.
I stopped in at the "Deep Blue" about a fortnight ago and had a hake and chips. I tried their large hake and chips today. The fare was absolutely excellent. The fish was hot, succulent and very good. Chips, as well were hot and crisp. I told the attendant, if chips are fattening, they must be hot, crisp and freshly cooked. Along with the food elegantly presented was a portion of fried onion rings The cutlery was clean and sparkling. I have taken the time to submit this report because I really enjoyed the meal and I congratulate the team for producing a great meal for a very reasonable price. I could not have written this report before I tucked into the food. I bet nobody could, just to see the food set out in front of me was so tempting to tuck in. It was a worthwhile visit, and if I have gained a bit of weight, what the hell, it was worth every calorie.. Thank you, "Deep Blue". Cheers.
This place has the most delicious fish and chips in Durban. Their beer battered hake is crispy on the outside and soft, almost melting on the inside. The fish comes with a generous portion of chips and tartar sauce if you have it for sit down. I also tasted their grilled calamari and rice - had a fantastic time. And to end this experience, their deep fried mars bar is amazing but you will most likely have to share it with someone.
Great take away - hake and calamari cooked to perfection, served with a generous portion of chips and nearly half a lemon. Try the deep fried Mars Bars - they really have a unique twist, definitely not a new concept but I have never had one quite like it! Wide selection of frozen products, spices, sauces and accompanying products
I don't really call myself a fish person, but that is starting to change, and this place might be to blame. The take away section offers some really amazing hake and chips that is very well priced. The shop also does sell freshly caught fish that you can cook at home.
Eagerly awaited my first time after all the Instagram posts. There wasn't any fresh fish, not well stocked and I found the frozen goods prices quite high. I ordered the calamari for takeout and it was pretty good although quite small, but there were no forks in the shop and when I stopped to eat the calamari I found no serviettes in my enormous bag. All in all, not impressed. Maybe next time, if there is one....
Dead cockroaches on the shop floor where I am supposed to eat. Menu says there is a special on Weds. Apparently it is a mistake so I came to save but paid more and ate with cockroaches. The food was good though, and for R70 I got 2 pieces of hake, nice chips, onion rings and house tartar sauce, which is why it gets 3 stars. Old dark fried bits on fish batter though. Either from unclean drying rack, frying basket or old oil.

Fish is good, but the chips are poor quality. Deep fried Mars bar is nice as well. Sushi is average and trouble in odering sushi as you need to go to another counter to place your sushi order
Only ordered through OrderIn but I’ve had the sushi on 3 different occasions. By far the best quality and portion sizes I’ve had in a long time. John Dores and Beluga don’t really compare.
