Maxillo Facial and Oral Surgeon
Dr. Hendrik Ehlers qualified as a dentist at the University of Pretoria in 2003 and completed his community service at Ellisras Hospital in 2004. He further obtained a postgraduate diploma in oral surgery in 2005 and a masters degree in oral surgery in 2010. During this period of studies he also obtained the following academic awards: The Swann Morton Prize for the best performance in the co-assistance period in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery, the Dux Clinical student awards for the student with the best performance in the practical part of his training and obtained Academic honorary colours from the student representative council of the University of Pretoria.
Between 2005 and 2011, he practiced as a dentist in Pretoria during which he was also involved at the University of Pretoria as a part time lecturer and medical officer in the Department of Maxillofacial and Oral surgery. In June 2011 he left the private sector to specialize as a maxillofacial and oral surgeon at the University of Pretoria.
Dr. Ehlers also completed several international accredited courses which includes training in advanced trauma and life support, advanced cardiovascular life support, advanced pediatric life support and advanced medical life support. He also conducted research in the areas of maxillofacial trauma as well as implantology and presented his research at the National annual congress of the South African Society of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgeons in 2014.
In 2016 he qualified as a maxillo facial and oral surgeon at the University of Pretoria where after he entered private practice at Wilgers Hospital. He has a special interest in orthognathic surgery as well as implantology.
