I simply can't thank you enough Joan.  It's been my life's dream to go to Japan and you have helped me above and beyond your job description. I am so grateful.

Very efficient and fast service. If you have all your documents and copies you can be done within 10 minutes provided you are there at the right time.

Friendly staff. Visa took 2 days. Just make sure you have everything required for the application - requirements on their website. Note: Applications only open until 12:30, the open hours between 13:45 - 16:00 are for collection only.

Disappointing that we were asked to produce birth certificates we're both over 40. Our passports are full of international visae, yet we were asked for unnecessary 'more itinerary details' after submitting all necessary documentation.

Of all the embassy offices I visited in my life the excellent professional service received for the Embassy of Japan in Cape Town has by far been the best. From the moment you walk in and start talking to the security officer until you collect your visa is a pleasure. Other Embassies can definitely learn from them.

Absolutely appalling service. Petty, punitive and passive aggressive staff. Asked us to produce birth certificates even though we're legally adults to prove we're related. Asked us to book flights, create itineraries, book hotels, without a visa. Said that it takes 2-3 working days on the website but when I went to the office they said it would take 2-3 weeks. Kept on asking for more documentation bank statements, company statements, marriage certificate when we sent it through. Extremely petty and punitive when we sent documentation through, insisting on a pdf for scanned documents.

Most friendly embassy in South Africa. Wonderful service, takes minutes to apply. The staff is awesome.
