Eataleni : a monthly pop-up cullinary experience on Enaleni Farm.
In the words of the humble farmer Richard Haigh himself...
Eataleni has recently reopened after being closed for nearly a year - an activist little pop-up experience in the farrago of a homestead at Enaleni. Being an agro-ecologist I'm interested in the politics of food and appetite...and keen to explore this further by way of an on-farm eating experience emerging from the synergy between farmer, chef and visitor. A local mindfulness around eating with 90% of produce grown, harvested and transformed within a 350m radius of your table this includes;heritage meat, eggs, dairy, cheeses etc, fruit, nuts, honey, vegetables, crops, herbs, foraged goodies and water. With time we might manage to get it up to 98% but for now 90% is real. Low carbon footprint, super fresh, simple but not simplistic food all grown on farm in a mixed farming system with heart and without animal mutilations and routine antibiotics and without agrochemical inputs, it is the absolute opposite of 'factory fresh'.

I've invited Charlie Lakin to work with me on a once a month event for a year. Two friends sharing their passion with similar interests but different knowledge bases is how Charlie put it and ..local in the purest sense. Charlie seems to understand my type of farming having grown up on a little farm in Yorkshire.

Keep an eye out for our monthly Eataleni Culinary Experience Pop-up dates and book expeditiously!

Been wanting to visit Enaleni for a while and finally attended lunch during one of their open days. My gluten free 2-course lunch was incredible and you can take your own drinks. We missed the farm tour unfortunately, which I'll definitely attend next time - would love to know what half the fruit and veg are that they grow there.
Richard and his team are just tremendous. Such a great farm-based eating experience, based on sustainable, eco-friendly, agroecological living. The food is always of a high standard and there is always a seasonal variation. Bring your own drinks and relax in the beautiful garden with friends. Vegan and vegetarian options available, booking is essential.
Richard is a kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable small-scale farmer that has a passion for both food and nature. Enaleni Farm is a true breath of fresh air in a sea of commercial and destructive agriculture, and offers a unique perspective into how food can be grown in tandem with nature rather than against it.
Absolutely the place for Sunday lunch. Only 1st Sunday of the month.
WOW. What an amazing place and amazing people. Richard you are a legend. your love for nature, animals and life is such an inspiration. Thank you for the invite. We will definitely be back soon.
Richard is passionate about his farm, animals and food. A lovely place and we'll worth a visit.
The most interesting place !! This is a working farm & everything is grown organically - sorghum, guavas, millet, sunflowers, cows, chickens, turkeys, goats, pigs, rescue donkeys. Cheese, milk, yogurt, bread, preserves etc are available for purchase. A spread of cakes, cheese, pastries, bread etc is on offer with a cup of tea or coffee after the tour of the farm. What a delightful place, will definitely be back for one of their once-a-month lunches. Than-Q, Richard, for enlightening me, Joan
Delicious, homegrown slow food!
A wonderful experience - truly excellent food, grown nearby metres from the kitchen in some cases with love and passion. I didn't stay over, but the guest accommodation looked great, and will return soon.
What a great experience to visit this farm. Everything they cook is locally grown and the food is amazing, lovely environment to take the kids as well. The owner as well as his staff are extremely friendly and accommodating
