First Car Rental

Pre booked and paid. Waited more than 20 mins. Then get n bottle green car full of scratches and dents. Just shockingly bad. Fly Safair??? How does this work?

After a smooth online booking experience, we arrived in EL ready to pick up our vehicle. The lady that helped us was initially very friendly. However, my drivers license had expired and I forgot the temporary license at home. You would think we'd be able to just switch the booking over to my spouse as its a matter of changing the name on their system. Well it's not. I was forced to cancel. I'm currently waiting for 75% of my money, as they're taking a 25% cancelation fee. My spouse then had to pay nearly three times as much for the same booking. We then got a vehicle which had a locked car interface system. The interface required a pin that wasn't given to us. We tried to call but no answer. This prevented us from being able to see the time, play the radio and use fancy features like the reverse camera. All in all it was a unesseccarily stressful experience that I feel could've been improved if their perhaps their booking system requested an optional scanned driver's license, or their system allowed switching names.

As a overseas visitor my reservation was made abroad Full to full Unlimited mileage The suzuki swift was clean and a nice drive . No water in window washer. On return the office was closed even though it was not supposed to be . Pitched up late Inspected car then the nonsense started Car would be rechecked at depot even though inspection sheet was signed off . Car would be refilled at depot and even though I had filled the car would be charged plus refilling fee????? So they can damage the car on way to depot and charge you for fuel and a filling charge to depot?? Needless to say I lodged a complaint and seems I have no been charged But load of nonsense will not use them again . Take pictures of everything and mileage in out

Car was OK a little rough cosmetically ran into a bit of trouble with theft of the wheels due to lack of prevention ie anti theft nuts cost me a small fortune almost 3 fold of what it would have been if similar where to happen to my double cab with tpms safe to say my car hire days are over

Initially gave me the wrong car. The car that I did finally get was in good condition and almost new. But on returning the car I was fraudulently charged for half a tank after I had just filled it up 20km ago. Very disappointing.

I am still waiting for my deposit refund since last week.

I would not recommend First Car Rental to any one . They charged me an extra 1900 kms at 3,00 each . I drove the vehicle from East London EL airport to Port Alfred PA . The kms between EL and PA are 130 kms . I stayed in PA and never ventured out of PA … I had 800 free kms - I have lodged a complaint and received a response which advised that they would deal with my query and that I would receive an email link to engage regarding the query !!! I have received no e mail nor a proper response to my query !! If you have the misfortune of booking with them please take a pic of the mileage at the start of the rental and at the end !! My considered view is First Car Rental has questionable business practices and this should be brought to the attention of consumer counsel !!That will be my next step !

Booking was easy with an airline affiliation but we booked child seats which were firstly not ready and then when provided did not meet industry safety standard. Appaling for a rental company, with no regard for children's safety. Staff were not helpful or concerned in any way. Our vehicle was in a poor condition and not well maintained. I certainly would use an alternate company in future.

I returned a vehicle up to date on the 19th and today is the 28th and I'm still waiting for the responsibility money R6,000. You only sent back R1500 out of R7500 I want my money please. I want it right now

Worst experience with car rental services to date. I hired a car from Monday evening. On Tuesday morning when I stopped in my way I could not start the car someone else also assisted but it did not work, the key did not turn. After Naturally I called to have the car changed after work. I also realised that I might need a bigger car due to the hills, locations visiting as well as the distances driven for work. When I got to the airport to change the car there were no bigger vehicles left, but just two Datsun Go's. I left with the Datsun but I kept on asking the agent to inform me when a bigger car is available. He confirmed many times. Today I followed up with a call after 14:00 after realising that the wind is also very bad to inquire about availability. The woman who answered confirmed that vihicles were available today and came in and out but again no alternative is available. After speaking to her and relaying the message above she said that the agent who assisted me yesterday will call me back, he is just busy with a client quickly. This was after 2. After 4 I called the call center again and they said that the EL branch manager will call me back, it is currently after 6. At this stage the best thing to do is to return the car and book and pay a deposit again at another car rental company because First Car Rental is very unreliable.
