Foo Wah Chinese Restaurant

We don’t normally book a table and generally get a table straight away. This evening bamboo chicken with steamed rice, cashew chicken and chicken chow mein. All the dishes were satisfactory and the service prompt. The restaurant ambiance and decor is typically Chinese, homely and modest. On this evening when it was cooler outside the temperature was comfortably warm.

Staff are always so friendly, extremely helpful and make every effort to accommodate special requests, even when it's a bit inconvenient. Food is always fantastic, never once had a bad experience here in the 30 odd years I've been a customer. Portions are very generous and to top it all off, they are one of the very, VERY few restaurants whose food arrives hot and fresh via delivery, even if there's a delay. Ingredient quality is top notch. Absolutely recommend! Vegetarian options: Very wide vegetarian menu Dietary restrictions: So far one of the very few restaurants willing to accommodate my allergies 100% without any problems. My requests are an inconvenience to be sure, but they always assist with a smile.

I’m currently 32 and my family has been supporting foo wah since before I was born. I live overseas but my one non negotiable every time I come to visit is to have my favourite Chinese. I don’t know how they’ve managed to do it but the quality never changes. It’s my childhood in every bite. Eric the manager has been there since I was a baby. The most incredible food; not one thing i won’t recommend. South Africa’s best chinese restaurant by a long shot. Thank you for never changing and always putting love into your food.

Had my Daughters 16th birthday here and it was amazing! So helpful. Food and service was excellent and the Decor is gorgeous.

Great restaurant with a good selection of dishes prepared with skill. The decor is also very special and authentic Chinese.

Very disappointed with the food quality and portion sizes in comparison to our similar cuisines in Jhb South. Theres more sweetness to the dishes, less salt. Chillie oil could rather be used. Noodles felt like i was eating spaghetti. The prawn noodle dishes have really tiny prawns and like 4 of those.

In my opinion FOO-WAH is hands down the best Chinese Restaurant in Johannesburg!! Try their Black Bean Pepper chicken with rice ... Absolutely Amazing!!! 5/5 !!! Parking: Very safe parking lot with car guards on duty all night.

I was told this was the best Chinese restaurant in the world. They could be right. Take for example the spring rolls, not only is the roll itself crispy but the vegetables inside are also crispy. Rest of the meal was superb, highly recommended great service and friendly staff.

Lovely atmosphere and ambience. Food is great too - vegetable noodle soup lots of vegetables, yum and pork foo yong was also tasty. They also do take-aways but well worth a sit down and eat.
