Description

Heaven on Vaal can accommodate up to 22 people sharing in 5 of our self catering units overlooking the Vaal River. We are nestled on the Banks of a quiet stretch of the Vaal River to ensure peace and quiet, both on the water and out.
We are also able to cater for birthday parties, year end functions and special events at your request in one of our Venues on the Banks of the Vaal.

Extremely unprofessional, I enquired about fishing and as a result of speaking English I was told blankly there is a lot of fisherman and cannot be accommodated. And then she asks me how people would like to come. I refused and said thanks we will fish elsewhereService: 1/5
Spent a quiet and relaxing Sunday fishing here, didn't catch much but that is expected in winter. The water is low so it was a bit difficult to net the fish. The facilities were clean and tidy and the hostess was welcoming and friendly. There is a great swimming pool available that is very clean. Pack light if you are coming fishing for the day as it is a bit of a walk to the water.

My husband & I booked in from 28-29 Sep. We where placed in the Sky room. It was such a pleasure to get away from our daily busy lives in the city for awhile. The atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing and the view over the river was also tranquilizing to say the least.... We were also informed of all the renovations that was taking place, as well as the ant problem, but it never bothered us at all. Besides, which household or business is ANT FREE anyway? NONE... No place is ever ant free..... Ansie's hospitality from arrival till departure was also awesome. We are busy planning our next visit to Heaven On Vaal for sure. This time it will be with the entire family included. THANK YOU HEAVEN ON VAAL FOR A SUPER WEEKEND AND THANK YOU AGAIN ANSIE FOR YOUR AWESOME HOSPITALITY
[Vir Afrikaans sien onderaan of my Reis rakker resensie] Heaven on Vaal is situated right on the Vaal oewer and offer 170° river views from most of its rooms. It is quite expensive though, but fair compared to other options in the area. Late check-ins, which is usually part of the game in the hospitality industry, is however charged at a pricey R500. Taking the distance from the nearest airport into account makes it even more ridiculous. It has a medium sized, well kept pool ideal for cooling down on those hot summer days and a nearby jetty offer easy access via boat or jet ski. The building is unfortunately quite old and not very well maintained. We stayed in the "Penthouse" suite and although it was one of the largest and supposedly luxurious rooms, right at the top, it was quite dilapidated. Paint peeling from the walls and ceiling, cracks in the walls, ants everywhere, broken down-lighters protruding from the ceiling and broken dividers in the bathroom exposing knife edge aluminium that will cut you open if you walk past too closely. Being right next to the river I had no problem with the constant boats speeding by, but this coupled with the constant yelling of the staff at each other and at the resident dogs made for a massive lack of tranquility. I do not mind animals, I love them and have many of my own, but there is no need to yell like that when you have guests trying to relax and enjoy their very expensive 2 night stay. The resident rodents in the ceiling also made for some interesting nightly and daily noises, running along and scratching the ceiling above the bed every few minutes. It was extremely hot and the half broken ceiling fan did not help, this unit definitely need a proper AC. Our visit was late March, I can only think how bad it must be for December guests when it's mid summer. If you're from Gauteng, good luck as you'll have to make piece with sleeping with open doors as the main door could be breached by toddler after a cookie jar and the front sliding doors have no locks at all. On the positive side, the well equipped kitchenette with fridge/freezer, Microwave oven and basin is good enough for preparing small meals. My wife found the ample cupboard space and dresser handy and the spa bath still works well although it's old and scratched to the point where it's hard to tell what is dirt and what is scratches. If you're used to camping in a tent, this place is a palace though. I left feeling sad, with some TLC and proper management this well located place could be a gem. ____________________________________________________________________ "Heaven on Vaal" is reg langs die Vaalrivier en bied 170° rivieruitsig vanaf die meeste kamers. Deur die afstand van die naaste lughawe in ag te neem, maak dit bietjie belaglik. Dit het 'n mediumgrootte, goed onderhoude swembad wat ideaal is om af te koel op die warm somerdae en 'n nabygeleë steiger bied maklike toegang via boot of "jetski". Google sê ek skryf nou te veel, gaan lees asb. verder onder my "Reisrakker" resensie.
