Hillcrest Country Market

About

A monthly country style market in the heart of Hillcrest showcasing locally made goods and promoting the talents of local people.

Description

Established in November 2013, Hillcrest Country Market takes place on the FIRST Sunday of each month inside the hall at Hillcrest Primary School.

Conveniently located in the heart of Hillcrest and a mere 1.5kms from the M13 on and off ramps, this venue is easily accessible from Durban and the Midlands. It is also the only regular market in the area that features an indoor facility, so come rain or shine it will be market time!

Hillcrest Country Market focuses on showcasing only good quality LOCALLY MADE goods (made in SA). Our aim with this market is to provide an upmarket shopping experience while still retaining the charm of a country market.

And chat and drink all day, it's a dog friendly cafe too
Lots of different events always friendly staff around and a lovely cafe
It is a nice group for people who can dance, fostrot, etc or who want to learn to dance, maturish people, very funny and enjoyable evening
Had a most delicious lunch of goats cheese tart and salad.
This is the most inclusive, community centre I have ever experienced. The cafe serves a great wholesome meal with generous portions of fresh veg every Mon-Fri. at an extraordinary modest price. Decorated in warm colours with local interest hangings and pictures it is welcoming and friendly with people drifting in and out after their activities. It's a great place to bring friends along for lunch. The range of activities is astonishing - there is something for everyone from babies to centenarians, everything from art, singing, dancing, knitting, cinema, and too many more to name. I attend the Ukulele Group that meets on a Wednesday night where between 30-40 of us rock our strumming and sing with Jason our exuberant, enthusiastic leader. All are welcome, from beginners to experienced players, nobody judges. What a lovely place to have in a community, and long may it last.
Very nice and friendly place to go for a coffee or lunch. They have got lots of things going on.
I find the Hillcrest centre a treasure. I come to monthly meetings from the centre of Brighton. It's a joy to be able to park easily, the rooms are large and airy, and quiet, never any problem about booking, and the lunches are inexpensive and superb and the staff are very helpful. The dining room It seems to be a hub for retired people like me. The main hall is a great venue - I went to a book launch attended by hundreds of people, and there is a vibrant market there whenever I go, which is a Thursday once a month - may be more frequent. I guess it's an important resource heavily used by the townspeople of Newhaven. I love it, the atmosphere, the people - and the lunches.
It serves good healthy food in the cafe and the people there are friendly. They have a film club that shows some pretty good films and there's also a storytelling group that runs storytelling events. Oh, and most importantly the place is not pretentious.
I've been to workshops here, book launches, film showings and eaten in their cafe. The venue is great, parking is easy, it has convenient links to public transport and the food is good value & delicious. The women who run the cafe are unfailingly helpful and friendly and the indoor market is great, too! I wish we had a place like this in my town.
This place is truly one of a kind. They have a cafe and countless wonderful activities to participate in. The people who run it and work there are very special. If you haven't been before then you definitely should go. We have done numerous art courses, family games evenings etc. And always had an amazing time, feeling a part of something.
