Midmar dam hosts an abundance of natural sights. It's clean and neat. However, toilet facilities could be cleaner. Swam the midmar in February 2022 whilst being 7 weeks pregnant. It was a phenomenal experience. The water quality was good. Braai facilities is on site.
First time in a long time I've been back at Midmar dam. Great for day out , camping and braai. Lots of people were out on boats or canoeing. Place was clean and grass cut. Very enjoyable day.
We took a trip down to the Midlands over the Weekend ,an came through to see the Midmar dam ,was a good experience ,i think we chose a good time as we where the only people there, have loaded some pics ,if you have come down for camping lovely set up also ,self catering apartments available . . Only thing i found strange if you come before 12 Midday it cost R 40 per person ,after 12 Midday cost is R 20 per person??
Going back to Midmar after so many years, super proud to say this place is looking neat & tidy. Well done to all the staff that work daily to make this dam look beautiful. Represents the Midlands in the greatest of way. Stunning scenery!!
Such a lovely place to just relax with the family. Midmar is one of our go to places to get away from the rush of the city. Loooooove spending time there
Beautiful dam, I just wish we could have camped closer to the dam but it was my understanding that the bottom campsites were closed because the dam was very full. Very peaceful and calm and the picnic sites are well maintained. If you do go camping at midmar you need a special camping plug and you must remember your own sink plug, I forgot there are however camping plugs for rent from reception and there are showers so you don't have to only have a bath. The bathroom facilities are a bit outdated. Some of the roads around the dam are a bit rough for a small car like mine but the veiw of the dam is breathtaking. The morning mist on the dam makes for some beautiful photos.
With all the rains recently the dam has filled up nicely. There is so much open areas to sit and pic nic. Children and adults will both enjoy the experience.
Amazing spot for a picnic or chilled day by the banks. The water is quite clear and relatively clean. Must visit of passing through the Midlands.
Lovely serene place to visit and spend a peaceful and pleasant day with family and friends. Swimming, fishing, yachting, picnic spots etc.
Really loved this place. Clubbed it along with the other sights and sounds in and around Howick. However we ended up spending more time here thanks to the natural beauty. The sunset was especially pretty on the day we visited as well. There's a small entrance fee but it's worth it. Plenty of space to have some fun time with three family or even for a quick run/jog session.
