Beautifully curated home and garden of a South African legend. Lovely atmosphere, special works of art by a unique and fabulously talented woman. Definitely worth a visit. Seeing Irma's studio and favourite armchair, her paintbrushes and work coat, all contributed to a memorable experience.
School field trip for Creative Arts. It was such an informative and lovely experience for the learners, most of which do not get opportunities to experience excursions. The tour was given by a well informed guide who was more than willing to answer any and all questions. The learners had an opportunity to create their own art which was spectacular.
It is absolutely beautiful. The garden is so lush and tranquil. The staff are helpful, friendly and so accommodating.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Great museum. Beautiful house and lots of aesthetically pleasing artworks. Athi-Patra as a resident artist was phenomenalVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A very special home museum of iconic artist Irma Stern. Current Georgina Gratrix exhibition The Cult of Ugliness is a brilliant tribute by a spunky artist with a wicked wit. Listen in to the Sanlam Arts Round Up today, Fri 30 September, to find out more. See news blog on mapmyway.co.za
I have been to Irma Stern museum almost 15 years ago and this week I went for a second time hoping to enjoy this great artist’s work one more time and share it with my kids. What a disappointment and disrespect to Irma Stern. Maybe 30% of the museum is Irma Stern’s work whilst rest is another exhibition and completely a random room with no markings who the work belongs to. UCT really needs to think about how to bring it back to its previous glory.
Somewhat concerning. Worth going to. It's free and has some interesting stolen artifacts
Had a very enjoyable End-of-Year Lunch at the Irma Stern Museum. Such a beautiful environment & rich artistic history. Heartfelt thanks to Nadja & Lucinda for setting up a magnificent lunch. We appreciate your attention to detail and wonderful service
Fantastic collection of Irma Stern artworks, antiquities and gifts given to the artist by other artists and during her travels. Three of the rooms are supposedly in their original state. Upstairs there is a contemporary art gallery. Gorgeous large garden.
What a remarkable place. A gallery that truly anchors the viewer into the environment of the legendary artist. The residency program also surprises sometimes.
