Cape Town Science Centre

About

A world of discovery under one roof!

Description

The Cape Town Science Centre is a world of discovery under one roof! Expect a wide variety of interactive displays and exciting activities for your enjoyment. Build a house in the exclusive 'kids only' Murray & Roberts Building Site, challenge your mind with Puzzling Things, experience weightlessness similar to that of space with a spin on the Human Gyroscope, play Mindball - the game where you control the ball with your brain waves and see and hear science in the Audio Kinetic Sculpture.

Enjoy a game of Chess on the Giant Chess set. We offer free internet to all our visitors. Remember to take a breather and enjoy refreshments from the SciCafe.

We are a work in progress! While we are able to offer our visitor the great experiences they have become accustomed to, we will continue to add new and exciting elements to our offering. We are striving to find the support to grow this centre into everything you would expect from a world class science-centre and more. We value your visits and encourage your support.

My Kids love this place , we have re- visited after 9 Years and my 11 year old loved it. We happen to be here on a South African Public holiday and the Management hosted A Flag ceremony, Director Steven was here as well . My kids can’t have enough of it. Lots of things to do and science experiences. Safe to say 7 years and older would love it . There is clean toilets and a coffee shop that serves snacks as well. A day well spent.
Great learning experience for kids of all ages. On a rainy day in Cape Town it is the perfect place to take the kids out to, different experiments with physics are demonstrated and kids can take part in acoustic, air pressure, friction and many more scientific experiences. We joined a local school group in a live demonstration of chemical experiments with smoke and fire to keep their interest. A small cafeteria provided drinks and snacks. Inexpensive way to keep the young ones busy and they might learn something too!!
The Cape Town Science Centre is a wonderful outing for all ages. It is filled with a lot of interactive things for all to do including laying of fake bricks to a building. Throughly enjoyed the day and will definitely recommend this centre
A great place for educational fun. Lots of experiments, puzzles and activities. A few of the interactive experiments were out of order or missing parts, so they could not be used or experienced properly, but otherwise a great day out for the family. The little coffee shop has a small menu, but it's quite nice with decent quality coffee. We arrived around 09h30 and the place was not too busy, so there was no waiting in between the interactive experiments etc. It got a lot busier around 11h00.
Great place for kids to learn about science! I didn’t personally enjoy the planetarium experience, it was too claustrophobic, but we’ll go to the proper planetarium for that : For science, space, and some cool shows with live experiments, a fantastic trip for kids. There is also a cafe with snacks and coffee and a space for Lego play.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
If you want to get your kids interested in science or even if you want to learn a thing or 2 its a great place to go. There are loads of sessions and demonstrations. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of activities that are working, most places like this we have found many broken instruments but this was not the case here. We must have spent about 3 hours here and we did not get through using everything. The staff are amazing and have a knack for dealing with kids and teaching that you rarely see
You should add some decorations to the party room, such as wall decorations or additional banners, to make it more festive for the birthday celebration. The room looks a bit plain and could use some more decorative elements. Because you are not allowed to stick anything on the wall, you still need to put effort into decorating the room.
Fun and educational, even us adults enjoyed the puzzles and learning about science! This will be a go to during winter.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
What a fun day! Make sure to bring dad along to help figure out how to complete the puzzles! Coffee shop a bit of a let down, but luckily not the reason why we are here.
My kids loved it here. It's a great place for children to learn. We missed the talk about starts, but the talk about light was very informative. My kids enjoyed every moment of it. Great thing that there's a baby changing room. SCIENCE IS BEAUTIFUL
