Junkie Charity Store

About

The best charity store in Jhb!

7A 7th street Melville Jhb.

Description

JUNKIE is a charity store situated right in the heart of Melville that defies all preconceived notions regarding charity stores. All though it is a charity store it always boasts high quality and interestingly beautiful merchandise, which ensures that each visit to JUNKIE is a unique, exciting and adventurous thrifting experience unlike any other.

JUNKIE is a Non Profit Organization that accepts donations of unwanted items from the public. The proceeds generated from the sale of these items are donated to a charity organization of the donors choice.

The charity organizations that we support are:
Abraham Kriel Kindertehuis
Baby Haven
Ban Animal Trading
Bambelela
Children of Fire
Community Led Animal Welfare
Melville Koppies Heritage Fund
Princess Alice Adoption Home
Salvation Army Old Age Home Emmarentia
Theatre Benevolent Fund

Junkie carries a wide variety of things from trinkets, art, clothing (vintage) and accessories to an assortment of homeware that includes furniture and appliances and areas of special interest such as haberdashery, toys, books, long play records, etc. You never know what treasures you might find upon your next visit to JUNKIE charity store.

JUNKIE respects the generational worth of goods and gives dignity to the idea of second hand. In doing so JUNKIE offers shoppers a bargain find, a money-saving opportunity and most importantly offers its help and assistance to charitable causes and community projects. (As a lovely bonus, reselling and reusing previously owned items also contributes to reducing our collective carbon footprint).

Junkie has an eccentric ambiance, friendly staff and has new merchandise on a daily basis, which warrants a routine visit to JUNKIE charity shop.

Completely wild. The whole store is filled to the brim with everything. So many twists and turns, each new room offering more delights: linen! Picture frames! Games! It's out of control. A truly unique experience.
Very nice experience knowing that the shop donated to charity. loads of items to choose from. make sure to visit Junkie Charity store when close or in Melville.
There is always a sale at Junkies! Go deep in, to the very back around the corner and feel like you are in a secret bookstore. I do think the prices a bit questionable for 2nd hand goods often you can get first hand goods at similar prices but I find it irresistible to go into and the owner is warm and welcoming. Magically Melville
This store is full of fantastic finds! I found the prices a bit steep for a charity store, but all items are however very well taken care of. Found a beautiful blazer for R300.
Very nice items, but the lady behind the counter is very rude. i go there often and every time ive been there she has made me feel very uncomfortable. often you can hear how she talks about the customers to the people who work with her. a friend of mine asked for a job there and was denyed for being a woman. She is just a generally rude woman.
Great thrift store! They have so many different items to choose from. there is something for everyone
Wanted to buy a necklace which was tied onto the display cage using a tie cable. One of the staff gave me scissors to go cut it off when I told her I wanted to buy it, but I couldn't because the cable was tied very tightly. I went back to tell her and then she said I should just leave it then . I thought she'd stand up and try to help me.
Some interesting finds. Some items are totally overpriced, and many are definitely not bargains, but they have regular 50%-off specials which makes everything more reasonably priced. Clothing is generally too expensive. The shop assistants are helpful and friendly.
A mine for treasurer hunters. Can find literally anything and at prices that are jaw dropping. The fact that they support charities with the proceeds makes it a true gem. And the staff are just the most amazing people to chat to.
It was quite cool ! Lovely people , Just found it a bit crowded with all the narrow aisles but otherwise great
