Online purchases are often seen to carry risk. There are valid reasons to have concerns over payment processes, stock availability, shipping issues, damaged goods, return processes and poor sellers communications. Smaller online vendors have to try even harder to compete with the big online stores, making it more difficult to convince customers to buy their products. As a photographer, equipment is a critical but expensive requirement. Keysers Camera Equipment is one of only a handful of online sites in South Africa that specialize in selling 2nd-hand photographic equipment. However, Keysers is a small operation compared to some of the bigger, known names, so they have to try that much harder to win their customers. Having purchased gear online from many other suppliers, I can vouch for the exceptional service and additional effort Keysers puts into their sales. Starting with their website, Keysers includes multiple, high-quality pictures of the exact equipment that is for sale. This is especially important for buyers of 2nd-hand gear, as this gives customers the next best thing to personally inspecting the equipment. Many of the other sites can't be bothered to do this, using generic photos and a one-line condition statement. Keysers are quick to respond to email and to discuss on the phone any listing queries. Keysers prices are excellent. I purchase a used Canon 1D MkIV that was about 15% less than anywhere else online, and included 2 extra batteries for the price, making the purchase excellent value. The camera was packaged very well, and they used a professional courier company that also helped me track the delivery status. All-in-all, Keysers come highly recommended, are most deserving of 5 stars. I will buy from them again.
I had contacted Keysers a few weeks ago with an enquiry to sell some of my equipment. It was a great experience. They quickly answered all questions I had about the process and were able to reassure me of getting all of it safely down to Cape Town. It was a smooth process without any hiccups from Keysers side. Best experience I’ve had ever, and some of the friendliest people ever. And the quality of the lenses is even better than described or even shown in the pictures. Bought mine expecting the few dust marks as shown on pictures and got one that has nothing on it, it looks like a brand new lens. Thank you very much Keysers
