This was the best place we ate at in South Africa. My friend and I are both seasoned traveler with 50+ countries each and have eaten all over the world. This was one of the best restaurants we’ve been to. The atmosphere was amazing like a cozy living room. The service was great. Our waitress came over regularly to check up on us and have us good recommendations. The lamb was one of the best I’ve had but the stand out was the ostrich steak it was the best ostrich I’ve ever had by a mile. The chili grilled prawns was also really really good. Highly recommended.
Kloof Street House in Cape Town is a must-visit restaurant that has become a regular part of my trips to the city. The flavors of their lemon butter shrimp, steaks and salads keep me coming back for more. The unique blend of Renaissance and exotic decor, along with beautiful paintings, creates a charming atmosphere. The attentive staff ensures a memorable dining experience. Whenever I'm in Cape Town, a visit to Kloof Street House is a definite must.
Kloof Street House is a really great spot. The food options were so tasty, really enjoyed the tomato soup and the bread pairing options. The kingklip fish main was super tasty, I would have loved a different vegetable option though. The green beans were sparse and didn’t do much for the dish. The service is really good and you get enough attention even on a busy night. We went on a rainy night and it was fully booked inside but they had blankets and heating, and we were covered from the rain.
Very cool and popular restaurant. You will definitely need to book. We went on a Friday and it was extremely busy so we had to wait for 2 hours for a free table. The service was very friendly and helpful. The stake tasted really good but could have been a bit more tender for my taste. Otherwise really to recommend for dining in and having a late night drink with nice atmosphere.
THE Best Food in Town! After staying in Capetown for nearly 2 weeks, there is no place I’ve tried that is nearly AS good as Kloof Street House. This is a HIDDEN GEM! The ambiance is mind blowing. The attention & characters of the waiters future aspiring actors and actresses is remarkable. Everyone dresses phenomenally different and quite distinguished from one another which makes the place like both a mirage of art and a fashion runway at the same time. It carries an intimate romantic ambiance, blankets, and fireplaces. Just divine! Thank you Saskiya for the terrific recommendations! And for ensuring the lamp chops were 100% Halal!
Beautiful restaurant. My favourite place in Cape Town. I love the decor and atmosphere. I've been there twice and both times food was excellent. First time we were served by girl called Saskia. She was lovely, warm and very friendly. She gave us excellent service. Second time we were served by Josh. He wasn't very professional and I didn't like that he was making snarky comments about the fact that I don't drink alcohol. It's my personal choice. Also the fact that I was given a drink I didn't like so I gave it back and still was charged for it which never happened to me before in any other place. Any restaurant or cocktail bar, if customer doesn't like the drink will make a different one without charging. Despite that I will definitely go there again when I'm back in Cape Town but ask not to be served by Josh. One little suggestion for improvement - more vegetarian main options.
My overall experience here is average. The only good thing about this place is the food, as it was yummy. The decorations was also well done. However, the service is its downfall. Our waitress was nice, but not attentive. My friend asked for honey, and it never showed up, my friend ended up fetching it herself after sitting with her coffee getting cold for about 15 min or more. The waitress took around 10-15 min to come back to us to take our food order and we were actively looking for her, and when the food did arrive, she forgot to bring cutlery in which we had to find her again to receive. Overall, the bill came faster than anything within the experience. - I do have to state that while we were here, it felt like we were being "watched" by the ower/manager. He did not greet or smile, but kept on hovering and only looking at our table. which is ironic since we probably saw him more than our waitress
Went for lunch for my wife’s birthday. The venue has a very unique style, eclectic/home vibe. You really do feel like you are in someone’s home which I enjoyed. I was very impressed with the bar area too. Lovely design, cosy and a great place just to grab a drink with a friend or two. The food. Overall I felt the food was good, not great. The winter special menu is good value for money and some ordered the 2 course. Standout meal was the battered hake. The fish was thick and perfectly cooked. Chips very good too. I didn’t order from the winter menu and went for the free range chicken with mushrooms and mash. Tasted lovely but was a bit overpriced for what you got. R240 for thigh and leg we had Apple pie and Malva pudding for desert which was also good. Their ice cream tasted gorgeous! If visiting was winter defo get a table inside. During the summer try sit outside as the area is beautifully decorated with fairly lights at night. I will return possibly in the summer.
We loved the place we will go back this week to try the food. The decorations is so beautiful and perfect, it’s the most beautiful restaurant I’ve been in my life. The drink were so good as well we took the tree of life, it was a very fresh drink.
A fantastic place. I love the atmosphere. the services are great.. highly recommend it. Inside is fabulous, and outside is stunning. Food: 5/5
