"Soon after arriving at Kruger Sunset Lodge you will think that you have arrived at the worlds end. Cares and worries fade and are replaced with humble wonder. Watching gentle giants feeding and strolling by tends to bring perspective to life. The ever changing scene on the savanna brings pleasant surprises throughout the day. Plains game provide entertainment but also excitement as hunting lions have been observed from our lapa on occasions. Shelter under the canopy of Marula trees or enjoy the shade of the viewing deck while nature unfolds before your very eyes. It is impossible to remain unaffected by the greatness of nature and our place in all of it. Enjoy sunsets and gaze at the Milky Way while the fire provides comfort and intimacy!"

This is located within a private reserve. While smaller than the main Kruger park KNP, wildlife sightings were more plentiful, and you can also still access KNP via a bridge you would need to pay an additional entry fee to the larger park The place itself is expansive, with 5 rooms accommodating up to 10pax. The kitchen is well appointed and has all the crockery you'd need - just bring all the food and condiments oil, salt and pepper included with you for the full duration of your stay, so you wouldn't need to make multiple trips out. Each room comes with a large bathtub, shower and outdoor shower, as well as his and hers sinks and air conditioning. The pool is of a decent size. It isn't the cleanest, but it's definitely good for a swim. We saw some warthogs and springbok from the pool area, but none of the big 5 came close during our 3 nights' stay. Monkeys sometimes visit and we were told to keep all doors closed, as they can really mess up the place once they get indoors. Load shedding is a regular feature here, and they have torches to accommodate this - though it would be even better if they had a generator during such moments and which is why I didn't give a full 5 stars. Laundry service is great - this is free and available every morning. We also left our dishes in the sink after dinners as the housekeeping staff were able to help us wash these we washed our lunch plates on our own. Loddy, our guide attached to the lodge, was always available for game drives - these are twice a day, starting at 7am and then again at 3pm, each lasting 3hrs unless you are doing KNP, which is half a day. All in, my 5 friends and I would recommend this place as an ideal location for enjoying the safari as well as returning daily to a comfortable, stylish place of rest. The great price for a 6 person stay was also a key compelling factor. Giraffes, rhinos, elephants, lions, crocodiles, buffalo, wildebeest, warthogs, zebras and springbok were the animals we saw during our safari trips - missing out only on the elusive leopard and pack hunting wild dogs.
This is definitely the best bush experience I've ever had. Safaris were great, animals kept popping by our place and we managed to see 4 big fives from the pool. Definitely a place to come back over and over again....Rooms: 5/5
We have absolutely LOVED our stay at this place! Gary organized Safaris and I was just amazed by how much he knows!! His communication skills are just excellent. We also saw the elephants passing by our villa. It was stunning! The trip was just perfect. Clean, beautiful, stylish, friendly staff. Thank you many times!!
Our stay was absolutely amazing. We spent 6 nights at the Lodge and each day was breathtaking. The owners went above and beyond to take care of our needs our group of 9 guests was super picky and needy ; . The multiple safaris were incredible. Each trip we saw something new and had another incredible encounter. We saw the big 5 and were so so pleased with our experience. The whole group was absolutely overwhelmed with the warm welcome, the incredible food prepared by chef Robbie and the attentiveness of the lodge staff. We plan to return for another stay with more friends!
Kruger Sunset Lodge is an absolute fantastic place to stay. Gary and Jovita are warm and welcoming and everything far exceeded our expectations. Our every need was taken care of. Beautiful setting, luxurious rooms and places to sit and relax. We had a relaxing time at the poolside. Saw a herd of elephants gracefully passing by, an awesome sight to see. Our game drives were a real treat. We saw all the big 5. Gary's knowledge of the bush and game are incredible. Gary went to great lengths to see the lions and we were able to see a pride of lions moving through the bush. Females, cubs and a male lion and so close. A spectacular sighting. Thank you Gary and Jovita for an unforgettable experience. We look forward to our next visit, a 5 star experience.
Kruger Sunset Lodge was the icing on the cake during our SouthAfrica tour this month. The villa is top quality, it has all luxury comforts and it is absolutely safe. Internet pictures of the place do not do justice, as once you are there, it is even better than you expected. It overlooks the savannah, so you are sitting there sipping your drink while an elephant, rhino, hippo and warthogs walk in front of you. The best night was when we heard the roaring of the lions. Just breathtaking. The ranger is absolutely knowledgeable, he knows everything about wild animals and the vegetation in the savannah. I highly recommend this place, it is magnificent. I will be back for sure. Letizia
Gary and Jovi are the most incrediable hosts and humans I have ever met. We booked the entire lodge for our elopement and were treated like family. We were taken on two safaris, and Gary helped us pick the perfect spot for our ceremony. The lodge is something out of a fairytale, and Jovi’s cooking is that of a top chef. This lodge is magic and highly recommended for small parties or groups that are looking to enjoy nature in a peaceful, quiet, yet breathtaking setting. Each room has a bathtub, indoor and outdoor shower. There are three rooms on each side of the lodge which is perfect for a group of 10-12. Because you are in the middle of the bush animals are everywhere, and you feel like you are one with nature. I highly recommend this lodge to anyone looking to explore Mjejane and Kruger areas. Thank you Gary & Jovi for my dream wedding, and for coming into my life I will never forget your kindness and hospitality.
Gary and Jovita are amazing hosts and their lodge is a modern meets South African design. I couldn’t recommend this lodge more. The Safari they offer is led by a well trained guide and almost always includes close encounters with the big five. Gary and Jovita take the time to understand their clients and their desires so they can offer a better and most memorable experience! Don’t delay and book your stay!
Great stay! Beautiful lodge!! Very clean and friendly staff!!!Rooms: 5/5
