Accommodation pleasant but braai area needs upgrading. Houses also too close to each other. Of the 4 bushcamps we visited, Talamati was my least favourite.
Beautiful little place, lovely bird hide where we saw elephants each day we were there! The monkeys and baboons seem to be very active in the camp though. Also one downside is that we were unaware that there was no signal at all... Not a single spot we tried had even one bar of signal to let family members know we got there safely. You don't go to the bush to get signal but it would be nice if at least one spot in the camp had signal incase of emergency.
The bungalows are very dark and dingy. One cant read in the bedrooms as the lighting is apauling .It might be fine in summer but sitting on a cold veranda because there was no place inside to eat ones meals was not fun. The furniture is old and broken. For one of the more expensive venues in the Park it needs a major overhaul. The gas stove is dangerous as it is difficult to light . All the markings have warn off. One expects simplicity in the Park however this camp is very tired
I love the kruger. Makes me feel proud to be a South African. Staff are friendly and it it is clean at this camp. Unfortunately it just feels as if these camps are not upgraded. It is very expensive. Extremely expensive for what you are getting. I remember the shower tiles from when I was here 40 years ago as a kid. Yes, the wildlife is amazing, but it surely would be so amazing if the money payed for the accomodation was spent on keeping the accomodation in a good condition. At this stage it is certainly not, yet it is always hard to get space as the park always seems full. I will keep coming as I love it, but in future I will consider camping as that would probably bd more luxurious and cost effective.
For me, this was definitely the best camp we stayed in at Kruger! It's small, clean and remote. It has a no shop or restaurant but there are two great observation points, one even illuminated at night, a nice open shed where you can use braai near the fence and view over the veld. Accommodation is simulair like other accommodations from Sanparks.
The Kruger is the best as usual but this camp is in dire need of an upgrade. The little improvements that has been made is uncoordinated and poorly executed. They might just as well left it undone. The water hole by the camp site is a perk and daily animal sightings are guaranteed.
One of the best, peace and tranquility spoilt a little by noisy staff quarters behind the bird hide.
This may be a great place to stay during typical seasons but we visited during a drought and this place was completely barren of wildlife and friendliness. Also, they were working on the wires and it stunk of burnt rubber and the units were running on a generator. When we returned from our sunset drive our lights did not work at all. Very dangerous. The camp should have been closed during these repairs. Also, the lady at check in told us the store was only 10 km down the road so we drove there to grab something for dinner as our reservation papers only said no restaurant and all other camps we stayed at had a little store. However when we began we soon realized it was actually 30. This made us late for our sunset drive. We tried to call but because the wires were being worked on could not get through. Upon arrival the driver proceeded to tell us how angry she was. We said we understood and did not expect her to go past the regular scheduled time for our tardiness. She said we should have researched ourselves how far the store was which we would have if the employee at check in had said she didn't know So, she drove us but did not stop to tell us anything about the landscape or areas and as I said it was barren of wildlife. When my husband thought he saw a bush baby she said it's probably just an impala and drove on. Our daughters 9 and 11 fell asleep it was so boring. This was such a disappointing end to our stay in Kruger Park. It was the most expensive location we stayed and most dismal. I recommend Ber-gen-dal or Lower Sabie. We loved both of these. Crocodile Bridge was ok as well. Avoid Talamati at all cost!!!!
This hidden gem surprised us. The isolated setting of the camp with only 15 chalets ensures limited visitor numbers, with access restricted for day visitors. The water hole right in front of the gate ensures a welcoming committee of elephants and other game. We heard lions roar at night, saw a lion kill within one kilometre from the gate one morning and even spotted a leopord and aardwolf one evening from the hide. The chalets are spacious and clean and the quiet allowed us to soak in the full spectrum of nocturnal bushveld sounds.
Absolutely beautiful, quiet camp in the best area of Kruger. The staff are genuinely welcoming and helpful. No question: my favourite camp in Kruger
