Kuils River Library

I had REALLY overdue books from when my son was a lot younger pre-COVID and I missed Library Week as I got the dates wrong - FYI you can return overdue books without a fine during library week. The librarian still assisted us and removed our fine. She also updated our information and helped my son find new, age appropriate books. Today my son is receiving free reading assistance as he struggles reading in Afrikaans. They offer this every Tuesday and Thursday between 3-4pm. The only reason I haven’t given five stars is that they are closed during loadshedding which is understandable but, a bummer. Bring your kids to the library, the staff here are incredibly helpful and reading is so important.

We have been members of this library for more than twenty years. I have seen staff members and librarians come and go over the years. I just love this library so much as it is so cosy. Like a home away from home. The library is not a modern building. Infact it looks like it had been a regular house before it was changed into a library. There are many houses in this area that had been converted into businesses. Over the years there have been many initiatives to involve the community and to get children to read more. There have been computer lessons, line dancing, exercise classes, craft classes which teaches people to knit, crochet, embroider etc. I belong to this class and this will be our tenth year that we in operation. Every year we aim to do one community project for charity. We have had many projects so far eg we knitted jerseys for an orphanage in George, prem outfits for Tygerberg Hospital, caps and scarves for old age homes and many more. All of this is free of charge and after all this time the class is still going strong. I believe that the reason this library keeps going from strength to strength is because it’s main focus is on empowering the community

Storytelling, Saturday mornings from 09h30 till 10h00. We try to create a welcoming atmosphere for all but, especially for kids.

It is always 'n pleasure to visit our library. The people working there are so friendly and helpful. We attent the library since 1983 and never have a problem they couldn't help us with. Keep it up Kuilsrivier. We love them. Ria and Pieter Koegelenberg.

Friendly staff ,quite environment ,lm sure they got enough literature to provide to the community the library is packed and very clean

Always a nice place to be my kids enjoy it and I love their holiday programs for the kids
