Going to Africa was my dream since I was a child. I had the opportunity to spend a few weeks in Leo Africa and I couldn't have asked for anything better. Every day was a new adventure, wake up at sunrise and then everyone go in the jeep looking for animals. Days spent under the African sun in contact only with nature, nights spent outdoors sleep out ... I think I felt really free for the first time. And then the sky... from breathtaking sunsets to the infinite number of stars. Fantastic staff and new friends from all over the world.. what more could you want? Coming home has never been so hard for me.. but this is not a goodbye
As a little girl, I always dreamed of going to africa. There was never a clear reason why I wanted to go so bad. Through my school I got the opportunity to do an internship outside of the Netherlands, ofcourse i had to take my chance. Together with three classmates we started looking for different companies in South Africa. Eventually we ended up at LEO Africa. We got in contact with Sabrina who immediately made us feel welcome via email. Finally arriving at the camp we were welcomed with open arms. We had a nice dinner around the fire. The first week went by super fast, yet it felt like being there for so long. In my 8 weeks, I was able to experience so many different things. Not only do you learn so much about all the animals and the incredibly important conservation work. You also learn a lot about yourself. Since you experience so much together, great friendships develop. The relationships I have built with some people in such a short time is beyond explanation. With leo I experienced how it feels to be free and not to worry about life. You learn to enjoy every second of life, because it goes by so fast. The rangers have so much passion for their work which makes every drive special. They have such knowledge and can almost always answer your questions. They listen to you and are always open to new ideas. You experience so many adventures that you wouldn't be able to experience anywhere else, if it were up to me I would still be there now.
First time for this kind of experience for me. It was such a great adventure, for sure I will recommend it. The staffs are doing a great work there and it is really helpful to understand animals' behaviour. Also, this experience is not only about conservation... it is about meeting great people. I had an amazing team Dimitri, Esther, Ben, Vittoria, Olivia, Marie... and that is also a part of Leo Experience. Moreover, if you are like me amateur photographer who likes wildlife and birdlife, it is a place to be! Just check their Instagram Page and their FB page... just wonderful. For sure, I will be back.
