Mabalingwe Nature Reserve, is located 38 km west of Bela Bela, in the Limpopo province of South Africa, and is about 12,000 hectare in area.WildlifeWildlife include the big five game: lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhinoceros, but also hippo, giraffe, hyena, warthog and sable antelope to name but a few of the 36 species of mammals. For bird lovers there are more than 220 species of birds to be spotted.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house had everything you can think of and the views are amazing. There's so many activities for kids. We are a 2nd generation visiting Mabalingwe now and it just keeps getting better. The staff is friendly and helpful. It would be nice to get a list of available animals with the map though. And we would much rather pay a park fee so we have full access to the predators park as well. But we have no complaints and we'll be back soon
Absolutely beautiful getaway just 2hrs away from the hustle and bustle of Joburg. The reserve is beautiful with plenty of activities. Reception was so welcoming when we needed their assistance and Connor was just absolutely amazing and so informative on our sunset drive with his passion for nature and love for the wildlife!! We only wish we didn't have to leave so suddenly without being able to thank him and tip him for the great adventure! P.S. take a 4x4 and not a hatch back. Roads in reserve are not meant for our city cars
All I can ever imagined. The environment so beautiful,stayed on Tswene is on top of the mountain. The place is very relaxing because is the bush. To top the game drive, so informative. The house 74 so beautiful, Clean, had everything we needed to use for our stay. The pool was so relaxing cause it was hot.Rooms: 5/5
We had a private stay at Mabalingwe nature reserve at The Sanctuary and it was absolutely amazing. It was very peaceful and we could see the animals from the patio. The house was lovely and had everything you could possibly need, but the bedrooms were not closed up right to the ceiling, so you can hear everything in the next room, witch was one of my only problems. We went for a game drive with a very informative and friendly guide and also had an enjoyable time fishing. I would definitely recommend going there on holiday.
Very pleasant week at Mabalingwe. The staff were top notch and our stay there was very pleasant. Lots of wildlife roaming around and refreshing swim in the pool. They have an entertainment/activities centre which was nice. I highly recommend this nature reserve.Rooms: 5/5
Best Nature reserve to rest and recharge. Close enough to Pretoria for a weekend away. Service was excellent and peaceful game reserve. Easy to spot animals. Game drives are available. Entertainment area with swimming pool, play area for the kids and a restaurant. 3 restaurants in the game reserve. Big 5. Most amazing place.Rooms: 5/5
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Premises is neat and tidy and the staff friendly and professional. Thank you Carel for a great game drive. We were lucky enough to see elephants, rhinos, giraffes and many antelopes. Your knowledge and humor made it very enjoyable!Rooms: 5/5
If you are a pensioner be aware- they offer great pensioners discounts at the caravan park, BUT only in low season, and it your booking is from the last day of a high season and another 10days of low season you still pay the non discounted rate for ALL the days. Ablutions are fine, not so clean, but probably the best shop from all the parks we visit. The person who works in the shop is excellent.
We were very satisfied with the friendly welcome we received. The communication from the resort is excellent. The management should consider to heat up more pools, since the amount of guests using the heated pools are to high for the maintenance and size and becomes filthy to use. The area around the pools should be cleaned better. The same rubbish on the Sat. was still around the heated pool on the Sunday afternoon. Some tiles on the walls next to the pool was missing and maintenance should replace those when needed. The management should also take better care to clean up areas surrounding the chalets. We were dissapointed with the lack of maintenance. Walkability: The path leading to our unit was not laid out well. Difficult to walk from your vehicle to the entrance of the chalet.
It's a very far drive but we'll worth it to see multiple animal species and for a quiet getaway. The area is neat and clean with very steep hills to reach your accommodation, but even with our Renault kwid we could do it. The rooms are very nice and neat with aircons and ceiling fans. Beds are a bit hard but comfortable with soft linen. The view is great with animals coming to your patio area asking for a snack. The animals are well looked after.
