Merino Junction

We waited an hour and 40min for our burgers. We ordered first but other people were served long before us. When our food finally came the chicken on the burger was RAW. When it was loadshedding, there were no backup generator and we needed to use our phone light to get around. I'm very dissatisfied.

On pictures, the hotel looks shabby sheek, but in fact its just shabby. Hotel desperately needs a make over. TV signal goes on off, wifi signal poor. Bedding well used, pillows lumpy and double bed lumpy duvet doesn't fit king size bed. Very disappointing.Rooms: 1/5

Lovely old lady. We had a beautiful, big family room that was lovely and warm. Bar was open with billiard table. Friendly staff. Victoria west is a Victorian gem. Apollo theatre tour is so worthwhile. All walking distance from merino.Rooms: 4/5

There is no backup power when there is loadshedding. Not even water during loadshedding. No emergency lights in rooms. Must use cell phone light. Will not stay there again.Rooms: 4/5

Wonderful stay at Merino Junction. Old school hotel in a very old and historic town. Very friendly staff and service. We were warmly greeted and made to feel at home. Accommodation very clean and comfortable at affordable price. Good quality linen. Our dinner was great. The dining room/bistro had a small menu and food was simple but very delicious. Wine is also served from the bar. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others. Please like the review thumbs up icon below if you found it useful!

Rooms were comfortable, linen was good. Dinner was good home cooked food. Atmosphere, ambiance and decor needs some work. Lacks the Karoo charm. A family of 5 shared a room, so a double bed and 3 single beds. Not ideal that the toilet and shower didn't have a ceiling. Good value for money.

We really loved this gem of a place. We booked last minute and they accommodated us no problem with a relatively complicated booking. We got here and the place was like an oasis after a long day on the road. All the staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are really neat, clean and well appointed. We could not have asked for more at such reasonable rates. This place will definitely see us again!

What a wonderful experience to overnight in this quaint hotel. Lovely rooms, great and extremely helpful hostess, Chenilda, who definitely goes the extra mile for her guests. And a most delicious dinner!
