I would recommend a visit. A thought provoking exhibition, followed by a chronological focus on one artist's work. Modern building making for comfortable viewing, albeit the ticket price is expensive likely making it inaccessible to many. There is also a beautiful sculpture garden which is worth a walk around. Lunch at the restaurant was also good.
The restaurant boasts an absolutely perfect atmosphere that's amplified by the stunning use of glass, as well as the impressive artwork and beautiful landscape. The ambiance is truly one of a kind and sets the perfect mood for an enjoyable dining experience.Service: 5/5
Beautiful morning spent at the gallery. The art is thought provoking and inspiring. I love how they are encouraging young people to appreciate art as something that shapes society.Service: 5/5
Beautifully designed museum with a superb garden. The interior displays are always of excellent quality
Went in December 2022. Below average and generic exhibits indoors but the garden is fantastic. Some of the sculptures outdoors are astoundingly creative.
This is my best museum in Cape Town, they have spared nothing in making this art gallery beautiful, informative and so interesting. It's all about Africa, paintings, interactive, photography to sculptures! It's a great morning out! They have a superb sculpture garden that surprises you at every corner! We spent an hour walking around this wonderful gallery, the art is beautiful and displayed in a free flowing manner, as you walk in the lights flick on, its an excellent experience and I highly recommend you visit this on your next trip to Cape Town.
Interesting assembly of modern african art, paintings, documents and sculptures. A nice cafe to drink or eat something. A minus: Exept the cafe there is nowhere a place to sit down. About half an hour drive from the city center.Rooms: 4/5
The space was tranquil and spacious. The facilitators was informative and great. Really enjoyed the session Safety: There was groundsman everywhere which made learners feel safe Walkability: Easy paths and do able for older persons Noteworthy details: The art pieces and sculptures are breathtaking. The space was quiet and big and so peaceful.
As I cruise into the downstairs parking the lights turn on for me and momentarily I feel like royalty. Stepping out into the Norval Foundation is a treat. The architecture is modern and functional- being an art museum amongst other things. I love the clean lines of this building. The galleries range in size and are always filled with exciting artists. The focus being Africa. Then there’s the Skotnes Restaurant that serves up a delicious menu and while you enjoy the flavours your gaze is mostly over the wetland and indigenous gardens. Here you can wander around and view plants and installations. Become a member and you’ll be invited to exhibition openings, musical evenings and other interesting events. It’s the place where I go alone to escape the humdrum or spend time with my family and friends.
The Museum is not far from town and is not expensive I got my annual card for less than 300R, surprisingly it wasn't too crowded for a Saturday. I enjoyed the visit but, I was expecting to see more contemporary paintings. It was still interesting to see all the sides of the museum. The part that I enjoyed the most was the garden outside with the different sculptures. It's worth it :
