Wow! My husband and I had an incredible experience at nThambo Tree Camp. The staff, service, lodging, and food was all wonderful. The game rides were unbelievable and the guides were incredibly knowledgeable and taught us so much. Our whole stay was truly amazing, but some highlights include: The 2 game drives per day and all of our animal encounters of course, seeing elephants on our bush walk, all of our meals and dining with the other guests, relaxing at the lodge, coffee and cocktails in the bush, the staff welcoming us "home" in the evening with warm towels and a drink, bonfires in the evening, learning about the whole ecosystem of the bush, and so much more. Like other reviews have said, keep in mind that you will hear noises in the bush and may have bats fly through your room in the evening due to the roof not being totally enclosed. But that's part of the bush experience! Special thanks to Heidi, Skye, Ingrid, Connie and the rest of the staff for such an amazing experience. We cannot wait to return someday!!
Absolutely loved love loved our 4 night stay at nThambo!!! Heidi, Sky, Lausanne, Ingrid, Conrad, Patrick and all the rest of the crew were great. Very attentive and knowledgeable - thank you so much! Will never forget the 2!!! encounters with wild dogs and the leopard in the tree chased there by the wild dogs!. What an epic stay! Also, really appreciated the amazing food prepared so attentatively by the kitchen staff.
Our stay here was excellent and very different from the stay in another lodge. No fencing meant being much closer to the wildlife but also much more real/scary experience. Sleeping in the treehouses was incredible even though bats flying under the ceiling and and game outside kept us awake. We will never forget the lion roaring just below our treehouse - an exhilarating experience but not for the faint hearted. Our guide Craig was excellent - very passionate and happy to share his wide knowledge of wildlife. We've seen plenty of game and some very exciting birds. The food was absolutely excellent, especially breakfast. The only downside was that the houses have absolutely no insulation and on a cold and windy night we've had a couple of those it gets very chilly inside. Luckily heavy blankets and hot-water-bottlesbush babies! helped us make it through the nights. If you are looking for a fancy spa safari behind a high wall this might not be the place for you. Otherwise I'd definitely recommend it.
I highly recommend choosing this lodge if you are planning a safari. Jenna and Isaac were a wonderful team as driver and spotter and made the experience thrilling. We saw so many animals on our game drives and even back at our lodge lions were actually very common to hear from our tree house, impala surround the area all night eating which is very cool. Be careful not to leave bananas out or you may bring in monkeys as visitors! The food was AMAZING. Every meal I loved and the entire staff was extremely welcoming and made you feel like family. They pack sundown drinks of your choice so you can have a drink at sunset everything on your game drive and same thing for sunset except coffee or tea. Rooms are clean and refreshed every day with everything you need. Everything went very smoothly and we saw so many animals!
What an incredible stay! All staff is incredibly friendly and warm, always a smile on their faces. Isaac is the superbest yes, I had to make up that word to describe him tracker and even though retired, still absolutely passionate about wildlife and bringing it to guests. Driving with Craig, we felt super safe and well taken care off. Game drives were incredible. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed. I would go as far and say it's the best place I've stayed at for a safari. Totally recommend and will 100% be back!
Absolutely stunning and can’t compliment Ingrid and her team enough. They work tirelessly to feed, entertain and educate their guests
If you want luxury but authenticity, intimacy and a rustic nature, N’Thambo is the place… After just spending our first fortnight on the continent, this was undoubtedly the best three days of it. The location is something out of a dream; just five cabins strung around a communal area which itself is made up of lounge areas, a bar and fire area. We felt so immersed in our experience at all times. This was because the staff were passionate, the environment expansive and beautiful but more importantly the camp is so rustic and really allows you to feel like you’re there - instead of just being in a fancy resort out in the Kruger. The food was flawless and we were often served things in ways we’d never seen before. It was refreshing food, tasty and filling. The room was dreamy. It was comfortable but didn’t compromise on the authenticity of being out in the bush. The beds were made daily for us, with a net for the evening, and the small touches in the room added luxury to our retreat. Because the resort isn’t over commercialised and larger than it needs to be, we saw plenty of animals meander through camp all throughout the days and night. These were obviously memories we’ll never forget.
What an amazing place. The tents are more than comfortable and the food was amazing. The staff treat you like friends the moment you arrive and do everything to make it a memorable experience. You could feel them wanting to make once-in-a-lifetime memories for you. Each outing had something different and the although you spend a lot of time driving around the moments of sheer joy at spotting a new animal is unlike anything else. Facilities at the camp are minimal as you would expect however what more do you need than sitting around the fire or in the "living room" talking about adventures with your fellow travelers. It is truly a special place and an experience everyone should do for themselves once in their lifetime.
We stayed at NThambo as part of our honeymoon in May. We absolutely loved it and couldn't fault the abundance of lovely food and drink. All of the staff were really friendly and the guide we had was knowledgeable and put her foot down on occasions so we were lucky enough to see the big five. The weather was a little colder than we expected but each safari truck has blankets and poncho's to keep you warm on the early morning and sundown game drives. The staff even put on a stunning private candlelit dinner for us with champagne. We loved that the accommodation was unfenced and within animals natural habitat meaning you often get animals wandering through the camp. We couldn't fault this place and would love to go back some day. Would highly recommend.
Well deserved escape from the Big City life! We where travilling there for a real african bush happening and our expactaions where blown away. They always say there is no garantie to find all the big fives, but with our guides Isaac and Warick we had two so much passioned guides with us, so we saw all of them minimum twice, even a leopard while walking. Even the Housing was unique, but after one night and two rides daily, you feel so save you will sleep pretty well and on days you will find a perfect view and with a bit of luck, you find animals right close to you. And don‘t ask for the food, nobody can expact that kind of delicious food they make for you. We are vegetarian, lactose and gluten free guys, and they served us daily changing delicius food like best european Restaurant. If you are looking for a real escape from daily living, without need of your mobile and really nice talks with the people there, you habe to choose nThambo Tree Camp! Thanks for having us!!!!
