Ruby River Resort is situated on the banks of the Olifants River in the Loskop Valley near Loskop Dam. It is approximately 2 hours' drive from Pretoria and Johannesburg, between Groblersdal (22 km) and Middelburg (65 km) in the Limpopo Province.

February 2010 Deciding on the weekend, Thursday 18 Feb till Sunday 21 Feb, we booked ourselves in a double-storey Safari Tent at the Ruby River Resort. The resort is in the Limpopo area, between Middelburg and Groblersdal, about 2 hours’ drive from Randburg, Johannesburg. The Pajero was packed to the roof – all Hein Pretorius kept asking was: how long are we going for? Tsk, tsk. It has a loft only to be reached from the outside with 2 single mattresses and a small balcony. Downstairs it has a bathroom with toilet, basin and lovely big shower. A small open-plan kitchenette, double bed, basic door-less wardrobe, dresser with mirror and a desk with 2 chairs. Outside is a sunken bath under the roof, hidden behind canvas screens. No view from the bath. Then a built braai and pub table-cum-bench set. Ruby is a big resort with numerous different accommodation options. In the resort, they have a restaurant, called Bike and Barrel. It’s filled with bikes of all kinds and opens at 8 till late. Even the pub opens at 8 …. Holiday heaven! At the reception, an old Vespa is parked in the garden, with a flower sprouting from the ‘seat’. We've also stayed in a Safari tent, right on the river! Absolute bliss. Open plan with 1 double bed, bunk-beds - small but efficient kitchen area, bathroom with shower, sink & toilet and a fabulous patio overlooking the river with another sunken bath.
Had the most awesome weekend with my family and friends. Would recommend it to anybody.Rooms: 5/5
Beautiful view on the river.Not much to do, no recreation, put-put is dilapidated, charlet ok, small thing have to be fix inside,.They must do more maintenance on the facilities. Bike& Barrel bar is nice . Food is average but ok.Over priced for what you get. Had to fix the TV cable myself.
Power camping stands next to the river, great views.Location: 5/5
I had my 21st birthday it’s a beautiful place to celebrate your birthday. Can’t complain about the service, the workers are kind and always helps you when you need help. We had so much fun. the decor was perfect. Everyone was so kind and the food is also amazing I can’t wait for my next event Thank you Ruby River..!

This place is awesome! I will recommend them any day! We have received such excellent service and everyone is very friendly. Uncle Larry always come to check on us while we are camping. Everyone here is very helpfull! The ablutions are very clean and cleaned daily. The fishing is great. We will definitely come back again!

We dined at the restaurant. I ordered the Ruby's Fillet. It was nicely grilled, just as I ordered, juicy and soft, topped with biltong, a creamy sauce with feta, BUT, it was cold. The iron plate which was supposed to be very hot was cold. If it was not for this I would have given it five stars. We previously had very good quality burgers there. Friendly and helpfull waiters. Overall good service. Did not have to wait long for the food to be prepared.
