Exceptional great service and friendly staff. Last moment plan changes they helped me set up a romantic room to ask my fiance to marry me. Roses, champagne candles and more. Can't thank the team enough for a great stay. Not even to mention the great food.
What was once a beautiful hotel is now in a state of disrepair, riddled with mould, damp bubbling walls and ceilings everywhere inside rooms and outside. Do not look at those stunning photos and be fooled. It is unfortunately what once was! The wooden pergolas are literally growing they look so bad. They don't tell you... you will have no lunch or supper options other than the worst restaurant ever called Harold's. Your keycard holder and pamphlets inside your room mention a signature restaurant called Waterside Grill and Bar... it closed down... despite what Google says, I booked 9 rooms with family and was left red faced looking for a restaurant that no longer functions. Other restaurants - members only. So u r stuck with Harold's... what will u get there... ice cold food. And this is whether you are there or in your room. Completely over-priced.. R160 for prawn salad.. which ended up being shrimp on lettuce leaves. They ran out of chips twice in 4 days and didn't say a word, instead they substitute as they wish with veggies.. try giving a 4 yr old veggies. Pizza arrived ice cold after it was clearly heated in a microwave so after being heated twice... it just went rock hard... toppings... not what's on the menu. Pasta? The skin layer had formed already. Lemon Meringue not edible... rock hard. Carrot cake.. straight out of the fridge, Malva pudding with ice cream arrived with 2 rock hard cupcake sized malva swimming in liquid ice cream- R80. Tbone steak reheated multiple times, was terrible totally bland and flavorless. If u ordered anything.. you waited 1.5 hours, Seated at Harold's or as room service. No cutlery or u have to eat tough steak with a butter knife. Wine? I called and asked for red wine options... I pic my favorite... 45mins later... sorry we don't have the wine we said we had 45mins ago.... I pick a 2nd option... 90mins later.. the wrong wine is delivered with no wine glasses. I could go on and on... no hot water depending on time of day. During loadshedding... u can't phone anyone except front desk... so no food despite the fact that their are generators. You have to ask for toilet paper, soap, sweetner. The voile curtains and scatters were visibly dirty. My 10 yr old was placed in a next building despite me asking for rooms next to each other. When we complained, staff told us that all 100 rooms were full and yet there was no staff. 1 person delivering food to all the rooms from quite a distance or no one to deliver and hotel staff had to assist. I had an amazing time here once before but this was the most expensive disappointment ever! I will not be back and neither will the 4 families I brought with me. Pics on Facebook.
Wow, this place was one for the books. Views from the restaurant onto the golf course was great. Our room was very luxurious. Very professional and friendly staff. We also had an amazing sopher driving us to the restaurant. Highly recommend. Rooms: Beautiful and luxurious. Safety: Very safe, inside a secure golf estate. Food & drinks: Always fresh and twisty. Noteworthy details: Amazing breakfast included.
Always a great place to stay. The front desk, kitchen, and chefs are fabulous. The rooms are fantastic and there is loads of space to move around, the room I was in had a three seater and a desk if you want to get some work done, and the room had a great wifi signal. You don't even notice when there is load shedding as almost everything works in the rooms load-shedding, you lose a hair dryer for a small while but the rooms make up for it. Walk-in closets are a nice touch with separate toilet cubical. A freestanding bathtub with an open shower gives an open feeling and not your normal hotel feel.
Stayed here for 2 nights with my brother and our wives. It was my brother's wife's birthday. The accommodation was amazing, clean, comfortable and with an amazing view. The service was great with people always willing to help. My only issue with the place was their wine selection. You would think that a glamorous place like that would stock more premium wines, especially since it is based in the wine lands of South Africa.
It's worth staying over if your goal is to recharge, restore, replenish. Bigger than standard sized rooms, tucked away from the noise of everyday life, amazing ocean view rooms, several outdoor poolsRooms: 5/5
A nice luxury place to get away with a Golf course and hiking. Rooms are very smart and the breakfast was very good.Rooms: 5/5
First of all, the property is very tranquil and stunning, I was in awe when I first drove into the estate. In perspective of the hotel accommodation, it was disappointing due to the hotel room and restaurants lacking power from load shedding and insufficient back up power. The staff was helpful, although not quite efficient. However, this is a beautiful resort overall.
We had the George Business Chamber networking meeting here. What a stunning experience! Attentive staff, beautiful setting, and great food! Thank you Oubaai TEAM!!Rooms: 5/5
Spent 6 nights at Oubaai Hotel with my group. Yes we had small little issues but nothing too big that could not be handled. All staff from reception to F& B even the house keeping ladies was a pleasure to work with. With the hotel being 100% for a few days it was still a very memorable experience. Will certainly return to a hotel that understands the need of the guest.
