RADICAL RAPTORS is a rehabilitation center for all birds of prey. Our main aim is to rehab and release birds back into the wild. Birds that are unfit to be released back into the wild become part of our educational and awareness program. We offer daily flying displays at 11am, 1pm and 3pm as part of these programs. These birds all become permanent residents at our center and we take care of them daily. Sponsorship and donations play a big role. <3

If it was possible I would give Raptor Rescue Plett 10 stars. This was truly one of the most enjoyable and educational things I’ve ever done. I think anyone who does this type of job of rescuing and rehabilitating wild birds or any wild animals really, must have an innate love for these birds of prey. This was very obvious with our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, charismatic and knew each and every bird’s personality. Amazing how the love for “his” birds emanated from him. Paul is simply amazing with these birds. He would introduce each and every bird to us, give us its history of how they ended up at the rescue centre, tell us the progress they are making and what their future holds for them. Everything was amazing but the one bird that stood out to me was the crow. I basically regarded them as a nuisance before but now I look at them differently. Paul explained to us how intelligent these birds are. He says that if you feed them or even if they steal your dog food , they will bring you gifts as a type of bartering in exchange for the food they receive. Paul put out food and even hid it in various places and let a crow loose. This crow found each and every pellet, which was absolutely amazing. I was intrigued by the Peregrine Falcon which is the fastest bird on earth. It flies at a staggering 320km/h. We were seated on tree logs and given an amazing display of owls by Paul. One of the most beautiful birds I’ve seen is the barn owl or nonnetjie owl. One of the owls was let loose and you could tell that it loved the attention. On two occasions it flew so close to my face that it brushed the tip of my nose with its wing. That is something I will never forget. There is simply too much to tell but for me, the highlight was the guides dog. He was amazingly well trained and a true show off, loving all the attention. And he decided that I was his favourite of the people there. Paul would throw a little rubber ball and the dog would go to great lengths to retrieve the ball and bring it back. We did this several times and he would keep bringing the ball to me. Even after the display, he still wanted to play with me. Just love him to bits. I have learnt so much in the hour long tour and would recommend it to anyone. The love, patience and care these people put into the rehabilitation of these birds are unbelievable. What an amazing experience.
The guide was charismatic, engaging, interesting. The center is well cared for and the cages and birds looked after. Great place to learn about raptors. The show consisted of the barn owl, crow and another owl - they swooped very close to our heads. They was no interaction between the birds and people and the show didn’t display any of the bigger birds of prey. Show and center was enjoyable.
I loved every second of this. Guide was super friendly and knowledge. My fiance loves owls so he loved it as much as I do. Very nice place and there is a cafe after the guide. A few shops and child play area
What a great place to stop on the Garden route. Absolutely loved visiting Raptor rescue Plett. The team are so passionate about the conservation work they do. It was incredible getting so close to these powerful and beautiful birds that play such a vital role in the ecosystem.
Brilliant experience, the guide taught us many new things and was very informative. I love to visit these places every time I visit these areas.
Really lovely experience! You can tell they care for these birds and put in every effort to ensure their full recovery.
It is a relatively small rescue and rehabilitation center with several dozens of raptor birds, but the guy who runs it makes it a truly remarkable place. His stories about birds are very amusing and informative. There was also flight demonstrations with several different birds. A great place to visit, also with kids.
This is a small rescue and rehabilitation centre but the guide made it really interesting and there was a flight display as well where he flew different birds of prey in and amongst the group. You have to go on a tour. They are normally 10am, 12pm and 2pm. I really enjoyed this tour and I felt like what I paid for is also going towards a really good cause. The guide was truly excellent and informative and I highly recommend it. A great activity for families and children. There is also a lovely small gift shop where you buy your tickets.
I wasn't sure what to expect of this place, but I was pleasantly surprised. The guy that did the show was great. He taught us a lot about the amazing birds. I really liked that the birds fly between the viewers and you get to hold them and view them close up. This is well worth the visit.
Fantastic tour! One of the better go to places on the garden route. Deserves much more than 5 stars. Mark takes you through the rehabilitation center and presents the raptors with great passion and knowledge. It makes for a tour which is both informative, fun and exciting. Next to the center there is a nice coffee place and great craftsman shopping places.
