Retreat Swimming Pool

At first glance we did not feel the welcome, from entry at the pay point - cashier behind dark glass wasn't engaging at first - to security personnel demanding demeanor, instead of friendly communication regarding rationale for checking appropriate swimming costume and bags for glass bottles. Hats off to Charmaine who was on duty to whom I could voice my concerns that our first impressions weren't favourable. The pool facility is state-of-the-art: neat, with a 25m "competition pool" and a kiddies pool separated by an overflow wall. The lifeguards are excellent ambassadors for the lifeguard fraternity and their respective swimming clubs. Let's talk about the fees: AFFORDABLE with options for monthly or annual permits. We'll be sure to visit more often.

Clean, beautiful and safe indoor pool facilities.

Very nice atmosphere, pools are monitored the entire day by several lifeguards. Two pools are currently in use, one main pool for the professional & one smaller one for kids from I would say 1.2m & up the 3rd one which are meant for toddler & up to 8yr olds is totally out of order. Toilets & changing rooms are very tidy & neat. Few spectator seating available enough ground space to lay out your towel or beach blanket. Sufficient rubbish bins visible. Strict Covid protocol is adhered when using the facility. Opens strictly at 10am. Inspection of swimwear & searching of bags is done before entering as well as the taking of names of each member attending with you. Play park also unfortunately locked due to Covid. Please note it gets very very noisy once filled. Even with all the noise my kids enjoyed their day too the max!!!

Pathetic service and arrogant life guards. Upon arrival at gate where we had to pay an entrance fee for 2 adults with a R50, the cashier told us to go over the road for change. I was stopped by the security lifeguard from entering the pool before I could even get in, and then I was told to wait at least a hour because the pool was being swept now only and that I can go swim in the kids section of pool so long. When asked why the pool is only being swept clean now, I was told it's not his problem he is only enforces the law. What B.S!!!

Lovely pool. Water gets a bit too cold during colder months. Would be a bonus if water temperature could be regulated over the colder seeason

I really enjoy Retreat indoor swimming pool. The water is always crystal clear, the lifeguards are on their toes. You can only swim in certain items which is great. I do have one issue and that is to stop allowing kids to enter without adult supervision .. Where are the parents??

We usually spend about 1hr30 here. The kids enjoy it. There are lifeguards on duty and they keep the swimmers in check for everyone's safety. Place always clean but can get very busy. The staff are always friendly. Strict Covid-19 protocols in place.

First time I've been to the indoor pools since the long awaited upgrades. Definitely not worth the hype. The baby pool is closed so it's not worth a family outing. The fungi in the pool is totally disgusting. The park is also totally cornered off. Very poor concept as the building has become more important than the actual swimming pools.

I didnt swim but my kids did they had a fantastic time .I am very impressed theres lifeguards police security and it was so clean wow.its a very nice place I'll definently go again I love that its indoors for those rainy humid days and plenty of open spaces and u an sit inside or outside .I cant sit in the sun long so this place is ideal for people like me I just love it

The lifeguards are helpful & friendly, BUT the pool manager & her assistants have zero people skills. They have bad attitudes, are unfriendly, unhelpful & arrogant. The facilities, on the other hand, are excellent, but the management & staff have put me off from visiting this public facility again. Unless they change their attitudes & learn to deal with people properly, I remain reluctant in visiting this swimming pool in the future. It seems like their goal is to discourage & turn people away so that they have less work to do. "The fewer people they have using the pool, the less effort they have to put in." That seems to be their philosophy. It's a shame such an excellent & promising facility is managed by such incompetent people who have no idea how to deal with their community.
