SeriousArt Curator of fine art by renowned South African artists: Daniel Novela, Edward Selematsela and Bheki Mtetwa.
Serious Art is the culmination of Buhle’s longstanding relations with Edward, Daniel and Bheki whom she has worked with for other good cause initiatives in the past and has also commissioned work from them for her own collection. Following Buhle’s involvement in the new acquisition of Bamboo Melville from the previous owners she was approached by the artists to lend support in showcasing their work to a wider audience over a period of 10 consecutive days. Upstairs @ Gallery at Bamboo Melville was deemed by the artists to be most suitable for this exhibition due to its longstanding reputation of offering artists and exhibitors an excellent venue to showcase their work over the past 15 years.
Buhle is delighted that Serious Art in its maiden exhibition is able to assemble such highly accomplished artists to showcase some of their finest work to date. Nostalgia, a Familiar Place, is intended to enrich the vibrant Joburg art scene and your support for these artists will be much appreciated by us all and we certainly look forward to seeing you – if not at the launch – then we hope you will find time to immerse yourself in the fine talent these artists will be showcasing by viewing it online.
