Societi Bistro

Went there for diner on a cold and wet day. Best idea ever. Very cosy vibes and deco, I enjoyed the fireplace so much. Service was impeccable, waiter took the time to explain very well each plates of the menu of the day. I ended up ordering the salad of the day and the roasted porc belly which was one of the best I ever tested in Cape Town. Wine menu is a bit small but otherwise I highly recommend this place. I will come back very soon!!

Good food!! Order from Uber eats and walked to pick it up — wish I would have dined in. Such a cute venue. Lots of wine! The decor is really lovely and I found myself walking the entire restaurant taking it all in. Food was good! The mushroom risotto OMG I could eat that every single day. Each spoonful was so delicious. Caesar salad was spectacular and the veggies were fresh. The butternut soup was super heavy on the cream. I tried to eat is several times and just couldn’t.

Last Friday: Worst meal we have had in memory. Only redeeming feature was our willing waitress. Apparently closing soon and Owner has obviously lost all interest and clearly couldn’t care less about his clients now. The two tagliatelle dishes were completely smothered and destroyed by garlic which I love and the peppers were either missing or too small to see. Couldn’t taste them anyway due to garlic. Debbie couldn’t eat her prawn tagliatelle and swapped with Dirk’s risotto which was fine. My three peppers tagliatelle was stone cold and had to go back for reheating. The place has the atmosphere of somewhere about to close, bleak and soulless, which I gather it is. What a sad ending to a reliable restaurant over many years. We were really disappointed, and pretty annoyed at being ripped off.

Exquisite! Great value for money. Friend and I came off the mountain after dark and were hungry for a vegan meal. Shared a cauliflower steak and a salad which the chef whipped together as a vegan salad. Both were FANTASTIC! Setting was amazing and after a few poor experiences at other restaurants this was really top drawer. We will be back for sure.

The food, whilst nice, is grossly overpriced and the portions are almost embarrassingly small; the main course felt like a starter and the starter felt like… nothing? The service was friendly, and there’s nothing you can do about loadshedding candlelight actually added to the aesthetic but the the evening came across as unpolished even though it wasn’t particularly busy. I won’t have time to go back before it closes its doors for good, but I’m not sure I would anyway.

Was not great for that price point. Medium rare meat almost still had a heartbeat, super undercooked chips weird thing to get wrong, and flavors were really really disappointing overall starter and main. Sadly feels like a colossal waste of money :/ Waiter was great though.

Lovely restaurant. Great food and wine. Must go to in Cape Town. Wine list is amazing. Rare meats available here too. Michael served us very well.

Would definitely recommend NOT going here. Don’t be mislead by the nice looking pictures. I think it was the chefs first day because the food we got served didn’t look any way close. We ordered a Ceviche and it was just a very sad looking four strips of very weird looking tuna and avocado. Nothing close to a genuine ceviche. The waitress was friendly but kept making mistakes. Bad experience overall.

Such a cosy restaurant Love the fire place and decor. Excellent service from all staff. Impressed. Pasta was great but I never had much of an appetite tonight. Perfect for lunch tomorrow. Will def visit again. Keep up 5he good service Team.
