Hadn't seen my friend for a long time so we decided to meet at Spades... What a charming, deliciously decadent place, it's like stumbling upon a genies lamp where the food is made not bought and the coffee growls and stakes its' rightful claim to being a damn good cup of Jo @ Birds Tea & Coffee. The waffle was crisp and soft like pillows of golden sunshine, the cream fresh and the honey luscious, Michelle and Jocelyn are truly delightful... Will most definitely ensure my path meanders in that direction again!

Spade has grown over the years, as beautifully as the nursery garden. Always something new to see and fill your car with. Plants, treats, crafts, preloved and creations. As well as a fabulous vibe that makes you feel welcomed and safe. Support local and enjoy this great spot with family, kids and even better... pet friendly!! Love this spot.
Great home style cafe’ with kids activity area.
Delightful little coffee shop. Visited with my toddler grandson. The lady offered him a meringue which we declined and then brought him a bowl of diced watermelon. Such a lovely, sweet gesture. Coffee was good and toasted chicken mayo was generous and delicious.
Some little gems to pick up here. I love the idea that you can relax and have a bite to eat in the rustic setting, with plants surrounding you. There is a little play area for kids as well, and you can buy from jams to baskets in the Spade shop. You will want to buy something there. The warm welcome from the Coffee shop owners also wants you to stay longer and chat the whole day. I will be stopping there soon again.
Spade Design Centre is one of the loveliest places to visit in Durban North. It is a nursery with a beautiful selection of plants, flowers, herbs and trees offered to those who have a passion for gardening and landscape. The best thing about this nursery is the wonderful cafe/restaurant they have set up which is really the highlight of this nursery. The atmosphere/ambiance is simply restful, relaxing and serene. The staff is very friendly and warm. The food is absolutely well prepared and served with efficiency and definitely most delicious and enjoyable. It is well worth the trip to enjoy a meal outdoors - it's like eating in a garden!
