Spazapp creates a bridge between the informal and formal market and brings Big Brand products to the community Quickly, Simply & Cheaply!
Spazapp was inspired by the streets of Durban through our first-hand experience of owning a number of small spaza stores that traded to the local community. It was clear there was a growing need by the informal market to maintain stock levels but having regular deliveries sent to the store came at a premium, often out pricing the Spaza store and resulting in added financial pressure on the consumer. We also learnt that larger manufacturers were looking for an efficient way to accumulate smaller loads so that deliveries became cost-effective. And finally, it was evident that Marketers didn’t have an existing relationship with the informal markets’ customers due to the broken chain to the market thus resulting in very little or no control over their brands in these retail outlets.
These insights sparked the thinking and development of Spazapp. Two years later and thousands of hours spent researching the informal market, programming the system and working with our clients, resulted in a simple but revolutionary ordering and communication system that we believe is the missing link between the informal and formal markets.
