SPIGA Durban

The restaurant was full we had to wait for table. The waiter was friendly no wait the staff in general was friendly. Drinks was lovely. The food was lovely for my friends everyone enjoyed dish. However, I didn't get to enjoy mine it was plain dull lacked seasoning. Something I can easily make at home. I was expecting a yummy spaghetti bolognese seeing that they are an Italian restaurant I was disappointed. Well they did took it off the bill as I didn't eat it.

Pasta Heaven! Going to Spiga is like visiting family Delicious food, great company and always full of laughs and smiles. Staff are super efficient and friendly. Meals are well priced and they have great portion sizes

Another one of my favorite go to places. Hot chicken pizza, meatball pizza, beef lasagna, chicken ravioli all done to perfection, limited cocktail menu, however they cater for whats popular i guess, the two that we tried were delicious......grazie!!!

Great service from everyone. Italian food, the food is amazing. The pasta dish we ordered was well balanced not rich. Wood fired Pizza was also amazing. Great spot overlooking Mitchell Park from outside table. Definitely recommend it.

I had not been to Spiga ever since it changed venues. Now I wanna smack myself on the side of my head. What a delightful experience. Such friendly staff and a linguini that is second to none. It is all that and then some… Had some quests from out of town and finally found a place that sings welcome to DBN.

Been my favourite Durban spot for 15 years and counting. The retro rolls are the reason I travel 600km from JHB at least once a year. Service is always great and the food never disappoints.

Undoubtedly one of the best spots in Durban. Nothing like Saturday morning brunch with cold Rose & Bruschetta.

Visited twice on a trip to Durban as we stayed nearby and enjoyed it each time! Food was lovely, staff were attentive and I liked the setting.

Feeling for some authentic Italian cuisine, I decided that I will forget my first and last experience at Spiga several years ago and thought let me give them a second chance. The staff were friendly, bubbly, pleasant and most definitely polite. I ordered a chicken lasagne and my partner ordered a hot pollo pizza. I must apologise that I have not documented this photographically, but the 40 minutes the food took to get to the table rendered me almost starving! Nonetheless, all this meant to me was that my food was freshly prepared - which I appreciated. The food arrived and I was some what disappointed in the flat, poorly presented almost sludge like dish which was supposed to be a chicken lasagne. I looked over at the pizza atleast I can call this pizza, my lasagne didn't resemble lasagne at all, looked depressed! We tucked in... The pizza had a nice crispy base, but thats about it. The pizza lacked flavour, lacked chicken, lacked mozzarella cheese! Even with the addition of chilli and garlic - it was like eating cardboard! The lasagne was bland. It almost tasted like a R15 chicken and mushroom pie! Albeit, that pie might be better. The pasta sheets were over cooked, the chicken was over cooked, there was way too much sauce, absolutely no crunch element apart from the burnt cheese along the edge of my plate! The layers were unrecognisable - maybe it never even existed. The R35 500ml bottle of Acqua Panna had a nice depth of flavour! But the plastic bottle was unpleasant. I stand by my first impression of Spiga - they are absolutely nothing to brag about!

We’ve been dining at this special restaurant for a little over 20 years. For us, it stands the test of time. Delicious and well-priced food - my favourite spot for pasta so many scrumptious dishes to choose from. Super friendly staff and management. I suggest you call to make a reservation as they get busy. Always a lovely ambience - even on an overcast or rainy day.
