held on at the call centre to get the direct phone for Riverside mall branch. it does not ring. Stop making me talk to call centre idiots when I was told to see a specific person in this branch. I waited on Monday for 2 hours at Grove to be told that they could not help me. Bunch of idiots playing at customer service!!!! #SAdownthetubes

I live abroad and decided to open an account here in South Africa as I plan to come back here more often to visit. I have triple citizenship you need to be a South African resident or citizen to open an account here in S.A. My South African ID book and S.A passport had been lost, I had my temporary papers as the original documents were being processed during the covid crisis they were taking forever to arrive. No other bank would allow me to open a simple checking or savings account with my temporary papers. On top of that, every other bank except for standard bank had abismal customer service. They're offices were dingy, they had us waiting forever and their representatives appeared to be at a loss that look: dear in the headlights as they didn't know how to work with government temporary ID papers backed up by certified copies of my ID book. We went to every single bank in S.A. We even went to different branches of said banks and it was clear that they were incapable of working with us with what we had as covid had made obtaining my original documents a prolonged affair. Standard bank worked with us, they asked for additional proof of citizenship and we gladly furnishings this paperwork. Their customer service was impeccable and they were flexible while still adhering to the law in ensuring our accounts were open legitimately. They've earned my lifelong commitment. I'll always point anyone who asks to standard bank.

Opens at 8:30 not 8 for one. I get there and want to open a business account and I hear the lady complaining in Swazi thinking I don't understand that thereally are 3 business bankers at another branch and she is the only one there so she tells the lady at the front desk to sent me there when they have no appointments for that morning at riverside

There's one lady who works at the money gram teller she's so rude I just wonder if she was never taught up about customer satisfactory Standard bank Riverside mall

Shocking service. Only one teller with a very long queue. Then no money bags available yet again. You are not geared to support small businesses.
