Steps To Health Pharmacy and Health Shop

This former great pharmacy has over two years become another Clicks store. It’s very impersonal, and it’s certainly not why I brought my business there. Very disappointed. The staff try their best, but I don’t have very much good to say about the new owners. So sad to take my business elsewhere.

This is our normal pharmacy. Today my wife was disgusted with the service of the young Pharmacist on duty. She went to get a cream made up for my 9nine year old who developed a skin rash and had a prescription for a special cream to be made up. The Pharmacists told my wife that she should "come back tomorrow as mixing up the cream would take far too long to make" and "can't you see that we are busy". After an argument the cream was made up. This was truly pathetic service.

I remember how busy and helpful this pharmacy used to be, but when I went today I was very disappointed. The staff has no concern for customer care. I waited 20 minutes to pay for 2 items because the staff were incompetent and couldn't complete a basic prescription for an elderly customer, and there was only 1 till open even though there were 3 staff members. It is sad that this pharmacy used to be so beneficial to the meadowridge community especially because they stock both western and homeopathic medicine but one gets minimal assistance and advice. Do better. Employ competent staff. Set the goal to deliver quality service and medicine to your community or sell it to someone who cares more. I will not be returning.

I recently recovered from covid and needed to pick up a script for a chest infection. I had been in bed for a week and I was very confused/caught off guard when I got there and the pharmacists started asking me questions about an unrelated previous script of mine. At first they said I had not collected it, but I told them I had a few weeks prior, and I already paid for it. They then said they had no record that I had paid and made me check my bank statements. Because it was under R50 I had probably paid cash, and never thought to keep the slip. Previously, because they had changed email addresses they had not received my email directly from the doctor and had made me come back for the full script at a later state after I had re requested the doctor email them. When I did return, another pharmacist said that was unnecessary because they did have the original script on the old email account. Basically I was being given the run around. Then 3 weeks later told I had not paid, and I was charged again. There seems to be a lack of the proffessional, personal friendly care there once was and now, to safe guard yourself, keep all of your slips because you never know when they may claim you did not pay for something- because the till staff may not have accredited it correctly.

Great selection of both traditional and alternative medicines and related items. They stock some unusual ranges like the Bach Remedies and incense. Knowledgeable and friendly staff do their best to help, even with my strange requests for obscure items. They were a little short on a number of products, possibly due to the high season.

What used to be a very convenient, friendly-staffed family pharmacy is no longer, under all the new managements it is no longer anything close to what it used to be, the management system is shocking causing delays and inconveniences and the staff can be very rude, for one example of many we had to wait 40 minutes past our booked appointment and so did everyone else that was waiting there. Hopefully one of the new management companies to take over in the future will make it what it used to be.

Have almost entirely stopped going here. This used to be an amazing, bustling, community-based Pharmacy with long-term staff that were familiar, knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere has completely changed. Sad to see the iconic Steps-to-Health no longer exists. Just a mention...don't even bother calling during hours. No one picks up the phone!

Dreadful place. Everyone is rude except for one lad, who probably won't last long because he's polite and friendly. I wouldn't give any stars at all, but I can't post a review if I don't. Everone there seems to have a major attitude problem. They seem to hate their customers, hate working there, and hate the way their lives have turned out. I'm not sure if the staff are bitter because they failed medical school and couldn't become doctors or what their problem is, but it's always been this way since I've been going there, which is at least 10 years. Today was the final straw. I will never go there again if I can help it. Rather go to Meadowridge pharmacy, where they are friendly, polite and helpful.

I have been going to Steps to Health Pharmacy for years to get my prescriptions and other natural remedies. The staff have always treated me with courtesy and a high level of professionalism each time. They are one of the best pharmacies in the city and they consistently have the medications you need at competitive prices.
