Sweeney's Barbershop Durban

Fantastic barber. The go-to spot of many trendy people. Laz is skilled and friendly, always offering up the best advice, coupled with easily 1 of the best cups of coffee in Umhlanga. He is responsible for my epic beard. ‍Highly recommended New premises brings new found magic!

Visited Sweeney’s while passing through Durban and had an incredible experience. Laz has tremendous craftsmanship, deep knowledge, and an unbeatable passion for barbering; I must have learned more about my hair in 45 minutes than I have in a few years. The welcoming staff, cool shop, and great conversations were the cherries on top. Fun things to ask Laz about: his three motorcycles, his barber academy, and how he got his nickname. Can’t wait to pass through again!

My first visit to Sweeney's as recommended by the chaps from @Gunwax beard balm. Decided at the spur of the moment to go in for a trim and even with short notice to my booking, I was still accommodated by Cameron. From the outset I knew I was in good hands, Cameron made quick work of my beard in progress and gave me a once over. 1st class treatment with grooming tips and tricks consult included to help me find the right style for my hair and beard. Left Sweeney's feeling like a million bucks. Thank you Cameron for the fantastic experience, will be back soon for next clean up, will have to make it a late afternoon visit to take full advantage.

Booked and arrived at the shop as indicated by the website. Was then informed that I was late 5min and that my booking had been cancelled. I explained that I had gone to the location as indicated on the website - Sweeney said that if I had booked via Booksy that I would have seen that they had moved. I explained that my wife had made the booking. Sweeney’s response - my wife making the booking was start of the problem. He noticed I was unhappy with the comment and told me to relax!? So instead of looking to resolving the problem it appears that it was more important to Sweeney to attempt to apportion the blame to his customer. That degree of arrogance is not something I need to deal with. There are others in Durban who offer the same service without the arrogance.

Sweeney's is my new regular haircut spot! A great vibe, awesome barbers and a lot of fun! The staff and their service at Sweeneys are exceptional and professional and offered tons of advice on how to grow my hair and shape my beard, giving me a long term plan for the look I want. They also offer a great range of men's grooming products, which is great value for money based on what you are getting! Whether you stay in Umhlanga or not, Sweeney's is worth the drive.

Amazing barbers, and barbershop experience! The new shop is beautifully done. I too Appriciated the various notifications recieved, from emails to social media, on the location change in the new year. Sadly, had to witness an incident where a customer was exceptionally late for an appointment, after seemingly being unaware of the... very anticipated location change in the new year. Unfortunately, barbershop banter is not appriciated by all it seemed! as said customer left abruptly, and in a foul mood! Before sweeney could rectify the situation, which thanks to the proffesional service recieved every time, regardless of error or blame, would have been easily sorted, it appeared! I mention this only because of how well said "incident" was handled, before, during and after. Will always recommend! As customer is King... at Sweeney's.

Popped in for a trim today. Have been at Sweeney's before. Very rad place. Today however sweeney wasn't there. So Lukas was who I saw. The whole experience was pretty rushed and was done in about 7 minutes,not what I thought I'd get. Besides cutting me up pretty bad with the straight razor on my neck and behind my ears he went over board with balm on my beard. Face was very shiny and felt miff. Didn't exactly cut my beard the way I showed him either. Take your time with your clients guys we value that 15-20 minutes of just hanging out and talking kak.

Sweeney operates with passion, skill and experience. The best way to tell if he's the man to give you the cut you're after is to go in yourself and get the full experience yourself. Sweeney gets 5 stars from me.
