What was probably once a very nice camp site as it has nice views and game wandering the camp but it looks like it's being allowed to slowly die. The grass was long, rusted out braais not replaced, fallen over concrete tables not repaired, 2 green swimming pools. Clearly no maintenance being done. And staff were rude - When we tried to go out on Saturday afternoon at 12:50 we were rudely told that that the gate is locked at 1pm and once we went out we would be locked out. The sign in form only says that the gate is locked from 10pm to 6am, as does the sign at the gate. I understand security requirements at a camp but you can't lock your guests in or out on a Saturday afternoon. Won't be back.
Positives - Pools are well maintained. The staff is friendly. We lost a hand bag at the restaurant and it was returned with everything intact. The place is quiet and extremely tranquil. Animals roam around and are not afraid to get close to the people. Nice walking trails. It is kids' friendly with a slide and a playground. Negatives - Chalet door locks are defective and one struggles to open them. If you want to stay in a chalet it would be best to use a car with a higher ground clearance or a 4x4 as the route to the chalets is quiet Rocky. The beds are not comfy especially for those people who have back problems. Overall, we had a good stay and enjoyed the interaction with the security guy at the gate and the other guy who comes around every night checking if everyone is okay. Would I recommend it? Yes I would.
Good Accommodations, needs maintenance though. View and surrounding is just beautiful. Night Sky is awesome. Staff is very kind. We booked 4 sleeper Chalet and changed to 6 without any additional cost, just for clarity we did not change due to 4 sleeper Chalet was bad, changed because wanted to do some astrophotography and the view from 6 sleeper was ideal for me. Let me know if liked the galactic centre .
We had a wonderful weekend at the Rooibok camp. The other couple staying at nr 9 was very friendly and great neighbours. We brought my mom and my brothers son along. He enjoyed the swimming pools and slide immensely, and the put put course was fun as well. We had a nice walk down to the valley. The bucks walking around in the camp site was awesome!! We got more neighbours on the Saturday, who was unfortunately very noisy.. the toilets and showers at the ablutions needs lights, it is difficult to use at night, the showers were great! The property needs some maintenance and renovations, but I assume that lockdown and Covid made it difficult for everyone especially in the hospitality industry. The staff was friendly and helpful, we will definitely be back!! I do feel that the tariffs is a bit high for what you get at the moment though, if it is lowered I think more people will visit and find if affordable..
We were in Njala camping site which is nice and peaceful. However water was an issue on the first night. A big reason we chose this resort is because of all the animals listed on the website. After talking to the staff we realised less than half of the wildlife listed even resides here. We also saw very little to no birds. If you like driving around the roads are very limited even with the right vehicle. Nice place, beautiful scenery, but since we love game drives I doubt we'll come back.
Not at all wheelchair friendly. When doing the booking I told reception I got a brother in a wheelchair. They gave me no 30 which I believe is one of the most difficult to accommodate a wheelchair. The fact that we were only 3, I was forced to take a 6 bed and paid the 6 bed prize. The stove had two plates and none of them could get to boiling point. We could not even get the door open on arrival. Lucky they came to fix it. If they are this eager to make money. I suggest they put in a better effort to get visitors visiting, coming back. My 1st visit not a good experience.
Absolutely appalling. We were never notified of water issues at the chalet I have a baby and had to spend our entire stay without water. Everytime we asked we were told they are attending to the problem. Toilets were not flushing. Heated pools were non existent even though that is the selling point on their website
Thee worst place to have taken people too. I regret it. the roads are not user friendly and the chalet B20 was unkempt. From entering the premises, the doors could not close properly and we had all kinds of things waltzing in the chalet. The stench of the whole chalet, the cushions was something else. The wall to the bath tub was broken and frogs could come and go as they pleased, the bunk bed was drawn on and a hub for creepy crawly's. Honestly a waste of time and money. If you can, book elsewhere. Upon arrival the Lady I assume she's the owner just handed us the keys and map, she did not warm us of what was to come or what to expect. Forget network, we had to go all the way to the reception area to get network. One redeeming thing, the pools. We only found them operational enough for use once and on all the other days the slide was turned off, sprinklers etc. were off. The thatched roof was leaking and when it rained, my goodness, it was as good as sitting in the rain. Paint job in the chalet was stained from all the rain, the stove was a mess. There was no house keeping till the day we left we checked out a early cos nobody could stand being there any longer. Shop/convenient shop was closed throughout, not even sure if it works.
This place was horrible and i wil never visit again. We had to wait 1 hour in the car as checking time only was 14:00 which is fair . The person at booking reception was very rude. Upon arrival at charlet the rubbish was lying all over the place, toilet paper, plastic, liqour bottels, sigarette buds, egg shells. Front door was broken in previously as the wood was removed near the lock. The bathroom was wet and dirty, bins as well. Toilet also dirty.The neighbours was screaming and partying and loud during evening. At the swimming pool drunk people with liqour all over. No heated swimming pool as well. . The only person that was friendly is the night guard that was doing his job and looking agter guests and their belongings. Thank you. The next morning two dears was next to the window. So nice but such a pitty that a game farm have rubbish all over and the poor animals have to walk and look for food to eat and could die if plastic are eaten . I dont recomend any one to go to this place. Disgrace to nature lovers.
My worse holiday ever. If you are non-white, then you are not welcome at this place. Reported a broken toilet which was never fixed. Staff treated us like we were a new kind of species. The other white guests were not happy with us being at this place. I was also told that I can only get my key deposit once the owner returns from holiday. I will never visit this place again! :
