We came here for lunch and loved it so much we booked to come again two days later. It's a beautiful, peaceful spot, the food and service were top notch. Although e didn't stay overnight we looked at the rooms, they are stunning, especially the villas with huge glass window overlooking the Gorge. The spa looked lovely... I'll definitely be back
We spent 2 wonderful nights at The Gorge. The staff was super friendly, food was very good and the views were spectacular. Close to the lodge are plenty options for family adventures. We did the Zipline at Lake Eland which was super fun.
I absolutely enjoyed my stay at The Gorge. The staff made our stay very memorable. I thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. The mocktails were brilliant and the lounge was amazing for sundowners with the fire in the background.
This is a truly five star Lodge. It is well run with excellent staff who are more than helpful and very pleasant to deal with. The accommodation and dining are both exquisite and the owner has put a lot of thought into all the details of the offering. Highly recommended. Rooms: Very comfortable, clean and spacious accommodation Nearby activities: I visited Lake Eland Zip lines and suspension bridge. I also participated in a trip to see the birdlife including Cape vultures
It could have been excellent. I can't fault the venue, the room, the ambience and views, but the food offering could do with some improvement, considering this is a 5 star. The rule of thumb seems to be give as less as possible for higher prices.Rooms: 5/5
First class hotel, attentive staff and perfect location. Nothing negative.Rooms: 5/5
20/10 the villas are beautiful, the views are amazing, the service truly is 5 star...
This review is for the restaurants and is influenced a lot by the price which is very high. It is not a review of the hotel which looks amazing, the setting which is stunning or the staff who are all super friendly and welcoming. While the food at the restaurants is good, it does not meet expectations when you consider that they require a R200 per head non-refundable deposit just to get in. It's hard to find a meal under the R200 price point, so you generally shouldn't have trouble spending your deposit. You would expect the standard of the food to reflect the high prices. Sadly this is just not the case. We ordered a number of things from the menu, from starters to mains to deserts, and nothing was particularly exceptional. In fact, there were a couple odd things, like being served somewhat pungent devilled eggs as an amuse-bouche which left us feeling a bit like we were at grandma's afternoon tea party, and the 'roasted vegetables' on the mains still having a significantly fresh snap to them. There was none of the creative pizazz you get from a restaurant like The Celler, where the prices are actually lower, and the food is definitely outstanding in comparison. All in all, the restaurants were a bit disappointing, and we were left feeling that the reviews which are overall very flattering were influenced heavily by how good everything else is see opening paragraph of this review.
We just had my wife’s 40 birthday at the gorge .what a fantastic experience…well done mike and staff
The place is exquisite but the service I'm not too sure. Visited this place for my birthday but they did not even sing nor send me a slice of cake. They don't go an extra mile for their guests and they will charge you for every tiny detail. The staff tries but they come out as uncomfortable as if they are micro managed. Washing our car was lovely, appreciated!
