Our society renders services to orphaned and vulnerable children in the Greater Benoni area as well as Colin House, our child and youth care centre.
Our focus is to protect and uphold the rights of our community’s children.
We advocate on behalf of our children, who have been abused, neglected, abandoned or orphaned, to place them in an environment in which both their physical and emotional well being is developed so as to give these children an opportunity for a better future.
Our History
The Greater Benoni Child Welfare has been in existence since the 1920’s.
Colin House, our Child & Youth Care Centre was opened in 1992 and extended in 2003 to cater for 20 children. Demand for services resulted in a permanent office being opened in Daveyton in 2005 as well as a satellite office in Etwatwa. Our case load as at March 2013 exceeded 3000 children.
Our dynamic team is made up of Social Workers, Auxiliary Social Workers, Administration, House Mothers, Domestic Staff , Management Committee Members and Volunteers.
To protect and promote the interests, well being, safety and development of children within the context of family and community and to safeguard the rights of children through a holistic, inter-sectoral, developmental and comprehensive system of social services.
