We at SRHS believe in 2 things.
Firstly, we believe that heritage and history is lived and created everyday.
Secondly, that Sandton & Randburg have no history.
This latter point is in need of elaboration.
"Sandton & Randburg does not have history!" – we have been reprimanded by the holders and ‘authority’ on what is. It is simply too young and bland, by any standard.
We’ve opted to focus on this view’s credence and not its irony. There may be truth in it; for Sandton & Randburg are not old, out-dated, stale, exclusionary and selective – they are not traditionally historical. Sandton & Randburg might not have ‘history’, we prefer to think of it as Our story.
To draw attention to, and assist parties in conserving, the history and heritage of the region while adding thereto.
To establish partnerships and other forms of engagement to ensure preservation of a collective South African narrative.
To ignite a sense of excitement about our past as linked to the present, while simultaneously respecting it and those it contains.
