We were booked into this lodge on a work trip We are photographers and had to photograph a wedding near this lodge. It was double checked upon making the booking if the road was safe and accessible for very low cars. It was confirmed by the manager that they have plenty of guests accessing their premises with super low sports cars and thus the booking was made. Upon arrival at the beginning of the gravel road it was very clear that this road is not suitable for low or sports cars. We had to drive between 5 and 20kmph to make sure our car did not get damaged which made the over all journey on gravel road over 40minutes. The road is horrendous with huge holes. The manager knew that we were there to photograph a wedding so would come in late and there was rain expected for the weekend, when asked about the roads when it rains we were told they don't think our car will make it through. So we arranged for our car to be removed from the lodge and a loan SUV to come back from the wedding. We came back just after 9 when it had already been raining quite a lot and already started getting stuck on the main part of the road. When we phoned the manager she plainly refused to help telling us we need to just floor the car and not stop driving and if we get stuck she will see IF she can make a plan but she isn't willing to risk it herself to bring our luggage out. So it was 10 pm, we were cold and wet from working at the wedding, had no place to go and in the managers words "You are now making your problem mine". I was utterly shocked at the lack of service or even willingness to help. We had to make a plan for accommodation at 10pm at night and needed to get a 4 x 4 in the area to get our stuff out the next morning. DEFINITELY do NOT book here if you do not drive a 4 x 4 or expect some reasonable amount of service.
Beautiful nature and easy to spot game. Chalets neat and tastefully decorated and equipped for self-catering. Only concern is no back-up plan for power outages. Had no power, generator or gas alternative to cook or make a cup of coffee before leaving in the morning. Still, lovely environment to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Beauty in paradise. Wow breathtaking bushveld outside Bloem...pity not there longer. Giraffe buck and widerbees were all about to say cheers to us in the morning Price is surprising and affordable...you'll be knocked out by facilities and the rooms are really comfortable
An extremely disappointing experience. Absolutely pathetic service. It seemed like we were an inconvenience for them and they were doing us a favor to accommodate us. Breakfast was arranged for a specific time and they couldn't be bothered to stick to the arrangement. We left and went for a much more pleasant breakfast at a restaurant. The rooms had a complimentary beverage selection, but it is a contradiction in terms. If you know anything about the hospitality industry, you would know that 2 sachets Ricoffy 2 saches creamers and some sugar will not be acceptable. First and definitely the last time I will visit this establishment. Thankfully we left before experiencing any more disappointments.
Very friendly people. Amazing nature. Beautiful room, very spacious with all the necessary amenities. Road might need a bit of work, but overall it feels like going on vacation with the wildlife as your highlight!! Rooms: 5/5
