The park, with the islands in Saldanha Bay, has been identified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area.FaunaWildlife in the park includes large antelope such as eland, red hartebeest, bontebok, kudu, gemsbok, steenbok, mountain zebra, duiker and ostriches in the Postberg section. West Coast National Park on the West Coast have two entrances to the park. 1R27 from Cape Town 98km on your left. 2From Langebaan town via Oostewal , Sunbird Drive, Park Drive . Pass Sharkbay turnoff and arrive at the gate. The entrance for 4 adults and two kids out of season was more or less R380 during April 2023. Most of my photos were taken in season 2021 at Posberg, Plankiesbaai, which is only open in flower season. The Park offers a array of beauty in and out of season. Various antelope e.g. Eland, Zebra. Ostriches, flamingos at Kraalbaai. Picnic spots and braai & toilet facilities at Kraalbaai with pristine white swimming beaches. You will catch a sand shark by hand if strolling in the shallow waters. We know how!! Various bird hides, Seeberg lookout point and the rushing power of the ocean against the rocks at Tsaarbank. Also fitted with braai facilities. Toilets not always open. Make sure you pack a picnic basket, as there is no restaurants or stops inside the park. Unless you venture to the town of Langebaan after your escursion in the Park. Enjoy - the West Coast National Park is a gem!
Beautiful lagoon. Set up your umbrella or day tent on the soft sand and soak up the sun - make sure you take note of where water will be at high tide. There are toilet and Braai fasciitis’s too. During low tide you can walk out quite far in the shallow waters. Water temps can be significantly warmer due to shallow waters which makes nice for swimming. Take a blow up floating device too where you can float around on the calm water.
Great Park and free if you own the wildcard! Great nature and lots of birds to watch! Not many other animals that we saw in April.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A lovely reserve not too far from the city. You can enjoy a day out on the pristine beaches, or take one of the many walking and cycling trails or even just drive around looking at the beautiful landscape, birds and small animals if you lucky enoughWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Very beautiful. Reasonable entry fee. Please check park timings before planning the visit. It changes based on seasons. There is an awesome public braai area inside. With a calm lagoon on the side. Perfect for a day out. Watch out for turtles on the road
very beautiful, but they need to get toilets and walking from ontop down to the lagoon is not a fun walk , that's the only downside of coming here . Restrooms: there's no restrooms available
I actually realized it's not only about flora during this specific time but and its fauna too and picnic spot. The Seeberg Bird Hide was my highlight with it's beautiful flamingos and its history. A place to visit
Most beautiful clean beaches you will find in the south africa . On a busy day best to go early to get a spot . Braai facility available aswell. No shops close by so carry everything you going to need. Restrooms: Fully serviced but would be nice to have more facilities than a single one Picnic area: Has a braai area off beach . Get there early in peak season to find a spot, also be aware of the tide when setting up your picnic spot
I love this place I try to go during every flower season which is from August till the end of September. The wildflowers are colourful and gorgeous. I’ve seen so many animals around the park as well. And the beaches are beautiful everything is clean and well maintained. It’s a 1 hour 30 minutes drive from Cape Town. Well worth it and there’s lots of nice places to stop at along the way.
The most amazing place, the nature and scenery were pure bliss, I had such an amazing time with my family here, saw so many cool animals and enjoyed all the walks. This place is incredibly clean, neat, well maintained Accepts cards and cash Remember bathing suit and towel for the lagoon you won't regret it. Lovely restaurant inside too!
