Yeah, won't use Western union again.
It would have been great if receiving money via international money transfers was not as strick as they are in SA... I was shocked to learn a visitor can not access western union services unless they have an SA ID or permit, things a visitor can not have. If they can look into it, I can assure them of continued support from both locals and visitors, helping the country generate the much needed FOREX.
Western union in south africa is very unreliable....should change the way you do business. How can you ask a recipient to speak to the sender to swap the recipient surname and name in order to fit your need.this is very unprofessional, you should instead inform your staff that names and surname in other countries french speaking countries like DRC are written differently but doesn't mean is wrong...your system should be able to recognise that this is a surname,name or Middle name irrespective of where the recipient is.your system is faulty!....fix it instead of disrespecting your client to keep doing the job for you!...Now there are growing number of competitors like worldremit , money grams etc, but you are still not learning to change the system in south africa....it is very annoying and unrespectfull
I haven't had problems using Western Union in the past in the UK. However in South Africa I have problems, the problem isn't actually Western Union, on both occasions the local agent is Travelex. Travelex need to do some serious staff training with regard to customer service. They are extremely sow, rude, abrasive and it seems each branch has a different requirement for collection...be advised it's best to take your ID, passport, proof of address...all certified as I have been asked for that. Western Union it is more than a gentle suggestion that you change your agents in South Africa as dealing with Travelex is beyond frustrating and extremely time consuming, I have yet to collect any nominal amount under R5000 in under 2.5 hours. Avoid using if possible
I was really hoping my experience would be different from those that had posted reviews on here already. Sadly I was wrong. I got there at 3:25 and they told me they were closed and would not be helping me, even though Google Maps says they close at 6. They have a sign that says they close at 3:30 but they still refused to help.
Guys 1star because it was such a disappointment for me to go to this western this morning and to be treated like an animal, poor customer service no minimum respect for the customer... totally a no go for me sorry , I'm very disappointed trust me. If anybody is familiar with the brand manager I beg you bring this matter to his person.
Very disappointed at the service received at this branch. As per the website operating hours are from 9am - 13:30pm. I have been standing outside this branch since 12pm and being told that they are closing early. No reason whatsoever as to why their offices have to close.
I really do hate coming to the western union sandton... the unprofessionalism that I see here is out of this world... on women's day one of the ladies was rude to me and other clients because she wanted to go home... and since then Every time that i do come she make jokes with the others in their languages cause I don't understand.. no people skills at all and it's really bothering me
The most unhelpful, disrespectful service I have ever recieved, waited two hours to be told that I couldn’t be helped. Cannot believe that this office hasn’t been closed ! Absolutely furious !
