2nd Street District

This is the "new" Austin. Yes, it has trendy shops and good eating establishments, but it's become such that if you're from here or have been in Austin since the 70's/80's, you don't even recognize it. There's a reason Austin was so popular. It drew people from all over because of its funky charm. There's not even a hint of that anymore. But like all good things, they must go. As far as I'm concerned, it's just like any other "big" city.

2nd street area is a great vibe. Cute shops and restaurants. Primarily shopping - some places are your expensive boutiques but others are very reasonable.

This place has a good selection of shops and it is growing. Needs more shops to fill the holes that are vacant. Otherwise great place to visit.

Nice area with great restaurants but a bit on the pricey side. Still, lots to be enjoyed here.

Meals that will fill you up start at $15. Violet Crown is a nice theater in the district, Toy Joy is a good local toy store, and the rest feels a bit Scottsdale.
