Great food selections - I love the store but I hate the condescending attitudes of some of the checkout ladies. I come here every week. I am a younger shopper and I make a decent living. I am also an endurance athlete / triathlete who needs to stock on a lot of food. Because of how packed my shopping cart is - I find it incredibly insulting that the check out woman is standing over me as I’m scanning each item. I have never shop lifted in my life nor do I even give off this vibe. I can’t help but feel I’m being examined because A I’m younger and B I’m buying a lot a lot of food. I’m starting to feel uncomfortable shopping here and may take my business else where. There was an instance last night where I tried to self check out again but the woman made me use cashier checkout cause I had too many items. Fine. However she had to stand and stare at me until all of my food was scanned and she only left after I swiped my card and paid. I’ve never received this type of scrutiny at any grocery in my life. Maybe this place gets shoplifted a lot? You guys need to up your security without effing up the shopping experience of your honest, paying customers.
The staff is extremely rude. The coupon in the app does not work, and the staff has verified several times to make sure I did the thing correctly. However, when the coupon does not work, she blames me not using the account a while or if the coupon had been used, basically there are problems in the app or the supermarket, but they blame the customers. They should be more professional in this.
Of the 4 places where packaged prepared food was located, there was 0 ZERO vegan options. Everything either had meat, or cheese in or on it. I asked the deli rep to confirm, and the answer was "nope, not here" followed with one of those looks with a swift motion away back to cleanup. Kinda insensitive and dismissive. And why doesn't a decently sized supermarket chain not have vegan options? Shame...
I love this store and have been shopping at Jersey city acme for years but had a very unpleasant experience today. The staff at self checkout counter wouldn’t give my child ‘a thank you for shopping’ sticker no matter how many times she asked . When my child picked one that was garbled down, she literally pulled that out of her hands. She didn’t want to answer when I asked her what merchandise would get me the sticker, all this while trying to grab the sticker that my child found on the floor. After watching this drama unfold, a KIND customer on the next lane asked the staff a sticker for her larger size merchandise and gave it to my child. I wouldn’t normally write a review but this woman was really MEAN and deserves this.
I have seen several other reviews about unacceptable behavior from the lady who works at the self-checkout line with the black curly hair and the pencil skirt and I unfortunately have to agree with them. Every time my girlfriend and I go to this grocery store, she harasses us at self-checkout. She makes us feel like she thinks we are trying to steal items. We are not stealing! Stop standing over us like a hawk while we are trying to buy groceries! We have never felt so uncomfortable at a grocery store like this so please stop harassing people! There is a Shoprite and Whole Foods down the street from here. Go there instead.
My favorite grocery store in the area -- nicer than ShopRite, while much faster than Target and with a better selection to boot. If you use coupons in the app it's not too expensive.
I used to love going here and recently the African American lady who wears a skirt, who is always at self checkout makes me and my bf VERY uncomfortable. Always staring at us like we’re not going to pay for our groceries and acts like we don’t know how to scan our groceries out. It’s customer service based job for a reason and if you hate your job then maybe you shouldn’t be working at a grocery store where you have to face people. The audacity she has to think that we’re going to just walk out and steal groceries. Hovering over us like she’s a helicopter mom, she makes you feel uncomfortable trying to buy groceries and I left feeling racially profiled.
A very modest branch with reasonable price less than average price, good customer service. I bought a sandwich from the deli and I did not enjoy it compared to other ACME markets but the fresh fruit was good. It is an okay market.
Nice and cozy. Good selection. Your average grocery store. Nothing too spectacular.
Clean, very organized, staff is very helpful and does not rush you at all.
