Very pleased with my recent experience with Alpinism 1. I have more to learn and master, but I feel like my guides helped me set a good foundation for my future climbing career. Absolutely worth the cost. Hope to do another course when I visit WA again!

Did Alpinism 1 with Calvin and then two day private rock climbing skills with Elias. Both were awesome and guides exceeded expectations. The #1 thing to know is that this is NOT a "summit factory" and they approach everything won a framework of instruction and goal of learning and skill development. I did summit both objectives but learned so much! Thanks! I will be back for more trips.

I recently participated in a 3 day Glacier Skills and Crevasse Rescue course with American Alpine Institute. My experience was excellent. From researching the course and asking questions, to leaving the institute after the course was completed- my expectations were exceeded. As an experienced adventurer, I was cautious about pursuing a guided trip like this but I'm so glad I went for it. My guides Andy and Jason were top notch. Their professionalism, experience, and teaching skills made for a very productive learning environment. My faith in their guidance made difficult goals feel very achievable. Beyond that, they were just really cool guys that I would hang out with any day of the week. I hope I have the opportunity to learn from them again in the future. On the surface these trips seem expensive, but when you look at the skills, memories, and friends that you walk away with... it's truly a bargain. As an outdoor industry professional and an experienced climber (with lots left to learn!), I would recommend AAI to anyone seeking a guided outdoor experience.

Did a private 4 day Mt Baker glacier skills / crevasse rescue training and summit climb with AAI recently. Great experience all around. Efficient communication, nice website for taking care of reservations and payment, friendly and helpful interactions over the phone. Guide was Dane Sherstad, who was outstanding. Nice little store run by Jeremy, who went above and beyond to special order an item for me and rush shipped it to my home to meet the deadline for an upcoming trip. Highly recommended.
