This is the most convenient location for anyone downtown, and because of that, there are times when it's sold out even though the uptown locations still have inventory. The staff here has always been excellent and they've always taken care of me since I'm a regular renter. A couple of times I've come right before closing only to find the gate closed. Luckily you can just take it back to the 24 hour midtown location.
The guys checking you out are great as well, making sure any scratches and dents are accounted for so you don't get dinged later on.
During my most recent rental, the manager upgraded me to a Camaro Convertible. Hopefully next time I can also get that Mustang they offered me, or maybe even a luxury ride!

Based on what I read on the post on FB and my own experience. I can conclude that Avis love to charge people in post rental stage. Avis may appeared to be a good deal in the beginning, but they have massive amount of hidden fees later. In their promotional page, they don’t even show the final price after tax and fees. In my own experience, I have rented a car, drive from NYC to Boston. I have passed several toll booth on the way, I wasn’t aware that there is a e-toll in the car, and I never found it in the car neither, (at least it’s not in an obvious location, I noticed the e-toll in some of other car I rented), and the front desk staff never informed me anything about E-toll. So, like a good citizen, I paid every single toll cost. Weeks after I returned the car in Boston, Avis sent me a E-toll bill. Despite my explain to customer service, they refuse to refund me. They send me away to toll service and ask me to provide receipt to them, most people don’t even ask for a receipt at toll booth, everyone is busy to get away. Also, they charge me for two day, despite the NYC front desk staff told me as long as I returned the car to them by noon, I should be only charge for one day. I understand my loss is not much compare with most people here. But I will still do my best to share my negative experience with people and ask my friends and family to avoid Avis at all cost. I have used other rental company before, they are maybe more expensive, but at least they won’t screw you like Avis, and you will see how much you really going to pay in the front, unlike Avis they try to secretly charge you in post rental, sometime even without sending you the bill. I won’t even find out till I saw the charge on my credit card, Avis never even notify me. I don’t know how you can justify that. I had to go back to Avis website and send my information to get an invoice, and even on their invoice, it’s not that clear, the amount is not exactly match up. Do yourself a favor, stay away from Avis, and don’t get fooled by their low price.

James Burg is a insecure and angry unit manager. He refused to help us after waiting two hours after the reservation for a luxury car that was completely uncleaned and dirty. I will not be doing business with this company because of him specifically. After making an employee complaint, he said the reason he was rude was because I said “bad words”. I called him “my man” which is a term of endearment in NYC and offensive nowhere in the world. I hope he finds the confidence one day to not be a frustrating human being to people he has to help. Either way, this location, management, and company should be avoided for your own sanity.

Mostly professional staff. Wayne stands out with solid service. I mentioned that I’m hauling a few items with the rental car. He offered to fold down the seats so that I’m ready!
