Dr.Cohen is great but have had constant issues with billing. Receiving bills for apparent appointments from 2 years previous at rates all over the place, double bills, paying a bill and then having another bill pop up for some entirely random amount, etc. Billing goes through Kareo/Tebra and over many years I have never once gotten through to anyone on the phone it goes a voice mail that is always full - imagine that! and the SPC office has been either unable or unwilling to help.
I don't write reviews often but I can't ethically stand by how this medical office runs their business. I saw NP Caroline Sullivan who was amazing and even referred her to my social network, and Dr. Cohen was also great when I needed an urgent appointment when NP Sullivan was on vacation. But when I made an appointment about a fairly urgent concern before I left the country for a month, they called me right before the appointment and told me I can't see anyone unless I paid the bill. The bill was for an annual routine exam that should've been covered by insurance so I called the office back and explained the situation, and how insurance corrections can take awhile and not something I can resolve before the appointment. They still refused to see me and I realized especially being a private clinic, they care more about profit than patient care or wellbeing. The bill was so recent that I hadn't even received it; not that it makes their conduct okay but that's different than someone who has refused to pay their bill after multiple attempts without the need for insurance corrections. I found another doctor who was able to take care of my immediate needs and will never go back to this clinic and have retracted any recommendations I've made. Perhaps it's not illegal to refuse medical service, but I certainly can't ethically support that model.
Dr. Caroline Sullivan is the most thoughtful, patient, and caring doctor. I’ll come in with a long list of questions and she never rushes me through anything. I’ve even gotten emotional in her office about a personal matter and she was so kind and comforting. She really cares about her patients. I originally started going to her as my general physician, but learned she also handles women’s gynecology as well. So I’ve been going to both for the last 2-3 years. She’s super quick to get back to you about any questions or concerns on the portal. Highly would recommend her!
I have been going here for a few years and it was a very mediocre experience until this week. I was not notified I had a balance from my previous visits only $125 total across 3 visits and Dr Cohen and staff refused to fill my prescription, which I have been on for YEARS, until the balance was paid. It ended up being 5 days without my medicine and had some severe discontinuance symptoms. Honestly Dr Cohen has never seemed to have any sort of empathy for his patients. I will be moving physicians after this experience and do not recommend this practice. Incredibly disorganized and rude.
What James Yoder posted above is exactly my same experience. You don't know you have a balance until 10 min. before your appointment and then they won't see you. The balance is due to them trying to bill an annual physical 100% covered by insurance, as an office visit, so that they can make more money. Insurance companies will correct them, but 10 days after you needed an appointment. Dr. Cohen lacks any humanity that you'd imagine should be a pre-requisite for being a doctor, period. His support staff is beyond rude and dismissive to boot. Avoid like the plague.
This was truly the worst doctors office experience I’ve had across three major cities in the US. On my first visit, I waited an hour for my appointment and was told the Doctor was too busy to see me. I got a bill for $800 that insurance wouldn’t pay for that visit. On my second visit, I was supposed to get a vaccine. When I arrived they told me that they didn’t have the vaccine, that I would have to pick it up from the pharmacy, and bring it back to them for the injection. They are highly unprofessional and would avoid. If this happened when I was healthy, imagine the care if I was sick.
I saw caroline sullivan . she was attentive and seem to be concern and the visit other than zoc doc issue and the insurance of copays and my not supposed to pay primary care cop paybut always some complication. There was no wait time.. i have issues stemming from not being given brain care from a tragic event 2016 and by time i got to here it me living on half a breath of life and that i be lucky if it made difference watching my miracle life i saved from drs years ago destroyed by a person aiming to undermine my happy life and alot of help from Drs who ignored it all. family abuse.. i also have cancer from this and sought refferal for new care and other. She was decent to get refferal, .. the communication on my part start to fall apart from circumstances.. but outside that was ok..
I recommend Spring Primary Care and Wellness. Barry Cohen, M.D. has been my primary care doctor for more than 20 years and I have consistently received exceptional care and attentiveness. I feel lucky to have found him, his service is unparalleled.
Has been my extremely competent, reliable and compassionate healthcare provider for 10+ years. Recommended them to family and friends who've had similarly good experiences.
Everyone is great here! I use the RN Caroline Sullivan as my primary care and she is fantastic.
