Was here to attend the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival. Though it was very cold/windy this time but the view of the cherry blossom trees made up for it. A well maintained park with ample parking , clean restrooms and lots of pink and white cherry blossom trees and plenty of spots to get your own moment/photos with them.. in some spots there were cherry blossom white and pink petals on the ground under the cherry blossom trees making it look like a blanket and giving it a fairy tale look and feel. Great alternate for those who cannot make it or want to avoid Washington DC trip for cherry blossom. You won't be disappointed.

This place has everything that you need in a park. Except a place to through a barbecue. You can rent a hall through Essex County Parks and Recreation department for a reasonable price. You may still be able to fish here just as long as you have a permit through the county. There's basketball and a nice playground that gets updated very often right next to 280 and 7th ave. Rounds pool an recreation center is right across the street. The skating rink that seemingly only opens on weekends (even though the staff is always there). Father's day dads skate for free. Nonetheless, if your a runner, you can run either on the recreation fields (football/soccer, baseball) of of lake street. Or the paths throughout the park. The path between Bloomfield ave and Heller Parkway is the best(Forrest hills). They have 1/4mile markers and a path that's low impact on the joints. There are wildlife here besides birds and squirrels so show caution when passing through the really dense areas. The Heller parkway/Grafton section of the park has a tennis court. Further down is a the cherry blossom center, another playground, a running track, and another baseball park known as 4diamonds. Ultimately this is a peaceful park where u can enjoy the tradition of architecture throughout.

Very clean and friendly. It is a big park with various types of areas, including working out/running, picnicking, many water areas, baseball fields, tennis courts, and a roller skating rink. The playgrounds in the Belleville area are my my favorite to take my little one. The Cherry blossoms are annual and definitely worth the trip! Check their website for holiday events; they sometimes have concert/fire works/ etc... Barbecuing is NOT allowed :/ hit the thumbs up button if this was helpful!

I went to see the Cherry Blossoms with my 15 year old daughter. They were gorgeous, but the park, not so much. One side was clean where most of the visitors were. The other side had garbage strewn all over. There were paths obstructed with water and mud. The water edges were laced in garbage. A goose was pecking at mud. We had ice cream but there were no trash cans. The surrounding area from the park look quite dangerous. It was a very diverse group of people. People were pulling on the branches. I will not go back.
