Caledonian Apartments

Horrendous management. From the very beginning to the end of our 6 month stay, there were multiple misunderstandings with Jorge, the property manager. He is not very responsive and doesn’t communicate well. 1. Since we were living in the basement, my room got infested with pests a lot. The pest control guy only showed up once but didn’t do much. 2. The garbage fee doesn’t make sense, because it is divided among all the residents of the complex. 3. There’s always someone taking your parking spot and the management doesn’t do anything about it. 4. Noisy neighbors The only good thing about that place was Ibro, who is the maintenance guy. He helped us with a lot of small things.

This is an absolutely terrible place. It looks great on the outside and the property manager Jorge does a great job selling you on "how nice these units are". They are run down, things break all the time and when you notify the property manager he never does anything. It's unsafe, dirty, overpriced and Jorge is always trying to charge you extra fees and while doing as little as possible. The external doors have locks and the lock boxes with the keys for the mailmen get broken into all the time. It has had to be replace 7 times minimum in just 9 months. The laundry machines were also destroyed when someone broke in and they only had one repaired because they wouldn't pay to get the other ones fixed so now all 3 floors share one washer and dryer. It's been 5 months. It's a non smoking property but don't let that fool you. It smells like smoke all the time and the property manager just keeps collecting money on fines for people who smoke but doesn't kick them out. And don't plan on getting any sleep on Fridays or Saturdays as the partying and the smell of weed will keep you up at least on the first floor. We kept a towel shoved in the gap under the front door to keep the smell from overwhelming our apartment. There is also a strict policy stating that if the police are called and issue a citation for any reason you have 3 days to vacate the property. Our neighbors were served this eviction as they were taken away by the police for doing drugs. They were still there 2 months later when I left. When we moved in the all of the appliances were old and out of date. Some did not work well and even though they were reported they never got replaced. There were bulbs missing or not working. When we went to leave at the end of our lease the manager tried to make us pay extra for rent and all these fees he came up with when our rental agreement clearly stated otherwise. He then tried to keep our deposit stating that we didn't clean appliances that he said he was replacing when he did a walk around 5 days before we left. He gave us a huge list of what needed to be clean and the list included deep cleaning the window tracts, moving all the major appliances and cleaning under and behind, removing light fixture covers and cleaning the inside/outside and the light bulb in order to get our deposit back in full. He also tried to say that we hadn't cleaned good enough because there was still black mold which we had reported stuck to the window frame seal. We have a video and pictures of the state we left the apartment in showing that we left it in great condition besides the black mold. The walls were also filled with black mold, were bulging and would move when you pushed them. We noted that as well and nothing was ever done.

I have been living at the Caledonia Apts since Dec of 2017 and have had nothing but AMAZING experiences. Jorge, the Property Manager, is very friendly and prompt on anything I have asked for and Ibro, the Maintenance Manager, is quick to respond to any repairs I may need in my apt. I would recommend living here to any busy, working professional who wants a safe and secure place. It's a prime location for shopping, public transportation, city night life and close to major free way on ramps and off ramps. I plan on living here for as long as possible and truly feel blessed to call Caledonia home!!!

The price and location are hard to beat. I lived here for years and watched it go from a 2 star to a 4. I no longer live there but my old roommate still does. New management resolved issues with allowing bad tenants, and made major upgrades. The parking is a little rough and I had a bike stolen that was chained to the covered parking but still highly recommended

Unit is very clean and rodent free. Great location to green space and walking distance to shops, restaurants, supermarket, Trader Joe's, Trolley Square, and etc. It also has close proximity to downtown. Great place to live, clean and well manicured landscape.

Not a good place to live, the management is dishonest and charges extra move out fees that are not included in the contract, in addition to this, is an unsafe place to live because of the neighbors. Old complex apartments and without the proper maintenance thus the price is competitive.

Great place, good location, friendly staff and affordable price

The price and location are mediocre but the new management makes up for it!
