Woodbine Nursing Home in Alexandria, VA on King street has many reported violation by the Richmond Commissioners Inspection office for breaching accreditation standards. My Great Aunt died there in 2011. My mother (age 80) has been there 4 years and she is now in the Emergency Room at Alexandria Hospital. The ER reported to us that each week they receive residents from Woodbine for infections, bed sores, etc. One of our friends Mrs. Pompan age 84, had a 3 inch wide and 2.5 inch deep bed sore wound and was transported to Ft. Belvoir community hospital which her primary care physician Dr. Carol Brown filed a written report for court of negligence in duty of care against Woodbine. Mrs. Pompan was held by Ft. Belvoir hospital for 3 weeks, with pictures of hand print bruise marks on her chest where they held her against the wall during showers. 5 residents have asked me to write complaints about the cold shower rooms, were they shiver at 70 degrees instead of the standard 82 degrees. What is worse the owners in Richmond have not visited Woodbine, and have never spent 3 days over night in Woodbine as many nursing homes board of directors require in America. In fact Woodbine in privately owned and there is now a resident group forming depositions for testimony in court against Woodbine's owners. They do not listen!!! They do not care. They are an Enron mentality. My PhD in medical education policy and patient safety during physician transitions can testify directly to their management gaps. It is nickle-dime management bringing food and pharmaceuticals up from Richmond. They only pay their help $10 per hour instead of the standard $15 and $20 per hour for CNAs. There is concern that staff is at risk for US medical exam licensing and green cards from Sierra Leon.
